STUDEN T COUNCIL The Student Council of Russell High School is a unified body of representatives from each grade level. The purpose of this organization is to promote student participation and provide leadership. This group is a bridge between the faculty, administrators, and student body. The student council for 8485 was involved in several activities: 1. Sponsored homecoming events. 2. Provided Christmas refreshments for teachers. 5, Visited elderly at Crestview Nursing Home. Provided fruit-basket for residents. 4. Spearheaded fund-raising drive to purchase copies for teachers and students. 5. JUNIOR BETA CLUB: Both thejunior and Senior BETA clubs are designed for students With a 3.5 or higher grade average. This club is a non- profit leadership-service organization for high school students. Its purpose is to stimulate effort, reward achievement and to encourage and assist its members to continue their education after high school, Both junior and Senior BETA club members should be of worthy character, good mentality, creditable achievement, and commendable attitude. The BETA Club provides an opportunity for indi- vidual and cooperative effort by our school's outstanding students. It devel- ops initiative and leadership, and re- wards merit and achievement. READERS OF THE LOST ART: Readers , 21 new organization, was formed to promote reading This club was committed to improving reading ability, experiencing different feelings through literature, and expressing and sharing reactions to writings.
