At Russell there is a group of teachers who have taken on extra responsibilities and bur- dens. These teachers, the Department Heads, have taken these responsibilities and fulfilled all that was expected of them. They have even done that which was seemingly impossi- ble. They have worked dilligently to make their departments better and to give the stu- dents at Russell the best to prepare them for life. Not only have they striven to make Rus- sell academically sound, but also to make Russell known in other parts of the nation because of their talented and spirited work. CHARLES W. ALDRIDGE Athletics MISS VELMA BOWLES English The South is noted for its hospitality and friend- ly people. Though we sometimes forget it, our teachers are our best friends. We would like to take each teacher individually as an example of this Southern kindness. Mr. Aldridge is considered by the students to be a typical coach. He is line coach for the foot- ball team and varsity basketball coach. He is a true supporter of school spirit and tops as a teacher. Miss Bailey is head of the Home Economics Department. She has been teaching girls the art of their responsibilities in that field. Mr. Billinghurst has done a wonderful job in Business courses and he is always glad to do meme- ographing for the school. We appreciate his will- ingness to help teachers as well as students. Mr. Bowen has been teaching at Russell for 0 number of years. He was football coach earlier in his career and did a grand job.
