HISTORY Memories are precious things to all of us. We may call upon them to furnish pictures of many moodSesome painted in dark turbulent colors of our unhappy experiences, others in the bright shades of our more joy- ous moments, but perhaps the gayest of all our reveries are the recollections of our high-school days. There comes to us the confused sight of a youngster somewhat be- wildered by a myriad of new experiences. Upon closer examination we find it to be our own selves as Freshmen at Russell. Some of the more outstanding details of this momentous era are the capturing 0f the N. G. I. C. crown by our football team and the development of the girls, Victory Corps. A new and larger picture now comes to our minds; it is of our Sopho- more year. The colors are becoming more distinct as we see the return of many of our teachers who went to fight in the war. It is a picture of rejuvination, for our workshops were resumed, and clubs reorganized. It is a picture of progress, for our military department won the coveted title of Honor School, the Wildcat was published bi-monthly, and the Senior play was forced to give a repeat performance. The scenes from our Junior year are even more promi- nent in our minds than the ones preceding it. They reflect many happy hours of toil planning the Junior-Senior Prom and various other tasks as we seem to he becoming an in- tegral part of Russell. The addition of more clubs and a full time physical education program are the new highlights of our ever expanding gallery. The next picture is a huge one, painted with bold flashes of color. It is the portrayal of our Senior year. The de- tails, described in bold relief, are so important to us that we shall remember them as if they were etched in stone. There were many progressive alterations this year: new auditorium curtains, a full time music program, losses in the faculty, '3 new assistant principal, a new faculty adviser for the Honor Society, and innumerable others. Our mem- ories are also enriched by thoughts of graduation and the reluctant parting with our old follies and pastimes. The last picture in our nOW'completed collection of high- school memories is the uncertain representation of the future. As we grow and develop7 we will separate in many different fields and activities, but we shall always cherish our recol- lections of Russell High. The Last Will and Testament We, the Senior Class, do hereby declare this our last will and testament, revoking all wills made by us prior to this day of May the twenty-ninth, the year of our Lord, nineteen hun- dred and forty-eight. 1. To the music department we leave our hopes that it will get a new piano within the next three hundred years. 11. We leave to Miss Parr the tedious job of teaching all future seniors how to march in time to the music. 111. Bowen and Larry Dodd, ended the season with a fairly successful record, considering the tough opposition in the N. G. I. C. The season was highlighted by fine spirit 0n the part of the players, who really did their best in upholding RusselPs fine athletic record. Harold Moody and Jerry Cato were elected CO'Captains 0f the team. This was Coach Bowenys last year as mentor 0f the Wildcats. He has held this position for years, leaving an impressive record.
