5'! ll it A A .L er 1? v i junior ffijfory ilNCE Russell High School has been in existence, it has possessed an out- standing characteristic: that is, unmatched school spirit. This school spirit has been manifested, quite naturally, more by the upper classes than the low e1 In w hatever undertaking, be it annual drives athletics, or what not the Junior Class has always given the Senior Class hearty co- operation. It seems to be a tradition for the Juniors to support the seniors in every activity. The Junior Class of ,28329 started in high school in the ordinary manne freshmen. We exhibited all the backwardness of true freshmen. For nine long months we labored under the heavy yoke of Latin, hilathematics and English. Since then, we have learned the true value of lVIiss Colquittls Hamo, amas, amatf! etc. We realize now that lVIiss Pendergrassy intentions were good when she attempted to teach us that the verb Ht0 beb never precedes a direct object. As sophomores, we must have made some progress, but we can not say that our sophomore year was more diHicult than our freshman year. Perhaps, it seemed easiery due to our thorough training of the year before. At any rate, I think we enjoyed being sophomores infinitely more than being freshmen. Somehow, we seemed to feel ourselves more a part of the school. Then too, the goal of graduation seemed much nearer than it had formerly appeared. Then, we became juniors! It was at this time that our numbers were almost doubled by the new comers, to whom we extended a hearty welcome. And here is more evidence of school spirit: they havent been newcomers to us, and we havent been strangers to them. They have become a part of us, and we a part of them. They have helped us keep alive the traditions made by former Junior Classes. During the recent annual drive, they assumed as much responsibility as we did, and the drive was a great success. Graduation doesnyt seem nearly so far away when we see the seniors 0f ,29 march- ing proudly before us. They have attained that for which so long they have struggled. In all too short a time they will reach the goal. We, the juniors of today, will be the seniors of tomorrow. Since we realize this fact, let us continue to give of our best to our Alma Mater. eHAMILTON HORNSBY, l3o. 3m qqqqegffanbbb: I- .I:f.1r:z:r:.x:z:z- ffmraw-er-J: Pane Tmnm- nine
