The glory of triumphs and friendships; of con-formists and the unexpected. JO “Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower; We will grieve not, rather find Strength in what remains behind.” William Wordsworth ■mmwmi ! mmm MOMENTS OF ANXIETY AND EXCITEMENT Lauren Carlisle Lisa Holmes Jessica Kirk Tyrone Spradley Abby Allen Kathy Taunton Keene Newberry (Not Shown) Editor---Sissy Morgan Pam Slicrrcr Felicia Belyeu Hollis Radney Cathi Burns Kelly Suggs Pamela Allen SECTION Tara Harris Lori Howard CHRISTIE KNIGHT STAFF: Jimmy Taylor, Carla Martin, Vanessa Ransaw, Crystal O'Daniel, Stephanie Brassell, Beth Brooks, Jeff Miller, Stacey King (Photo). Jennifer Stimson and Jeff Tuggle Melissa Godwin Stacey Crlsler SDOH-DH PAM SHERRER Before Benjamin Russell High School was established, Alexander City students attended Alexander City High School and Laurel High School. Alexander City High School was located where the Alexander City Junior High is now. During this time, the trains that traveled through town were powered by coal. As the train went by, cinders were shot from the smoke stacks and landed in the eyes of anyone standing nearby. Students were constantly bothered by cinders in their eyes. When a newspaper was started at Alexander City High School, the students chose the name Cinder; they wanted the paper to be in everyones eye like the cinders from the trains. Although diesel fuel has replaced coal, and the trains no longer shoot out cinders, the Cinder is still in the eyes of all students who attend Benjamin Russell High School.
