Well remember L that wonderful year with its Serious Moments of Meditation when each person sought to step to high levels of learning and success through application to studies.

Our Goal: Graduation HtS is the goal tor all of us—seniors, juniors, sophomores, freshmen alike. This is what we have been working toward and dreaming of for twelve years. And now it's here—that wonderful night, the night of our graduation. The sky above us is dark, sprinkled with a thousand twinkling stars seeming to share in our excitement as we stand waiting outside the gate. Then we hear it, our cue—the strains of “Pomp and Circumstance.” Our hearts swell with pride as we slowly march down to our places, but our eyes are misting, too. As we take our seats, our thoughts begin to drift back through our years in high school. Do you remember how we struggled through physics problems, trying to resolve forces, or the day our experiment exploded in chemistry? Oh, yes, let’s not forget “Macbeth —“Hear it not, Duncan, for it is a knell that summons thee to heaven or to hell. Then, there were the algebra problems, and our trying to figure out what x and y were equal to, or geometry and trying to prove that a certain triangle had two equal sides, when all we could see was that they looked equal. What about trying to remember dates in history? Let’s see, when was the Magna Carta signed? Then, there was typing. That little finger just never would strike the right key. Then, there was shorthand—is an n a curve up or down? We remember the frogs in biology, how tedious it was to try to separate the heart from the aorta without destroying either. However, all was not study. We recall the dramatizations in English when we used our little sisters’ skirts for kilts—or our heated political discussions in history during the presidential campaign. What about the time we made our own hats in home-ec? Could we ever come up with some unique creations! Our minds snap back to reality when we hear our name called. Our time has come, the time to walk forward to receive our diploma—the time to stand on the threshold a while before launching our new life. Fourteen
