KENTUCKY IS MY LAND By Jesse Stuart Kentucky is my land, It is a place beneath the wind and sun In the very heart of America ... I didn’t have any choice as to where I was born But if I had had my choice I would have chosen Kentucky ... If I could have chosen the spot in Kentucky, I would have chosen W-Hollow The place where I was bom ... W-HOLLOW. HOME OF JESSE STlffflP FOREWORD Kentucky is Jesse Stuart’s land .. . Ken- tucky' is also our land . . . Vi e love the hills, the flowers, and trees which Mr. Stuart des- cribes so beautifully in his ballads and sonnets . . . They are a part of us . . . We believe that Jesse Stuart has made an immortal contri- bution to world literature . . . We also believe that he has brought national and international fame to Greenup County . . . The 1954 Revilonian staff feels highly honored that Russell High School is the first school to pay tribute to Jesse Stuart, a tribute which he has long deserved . . . Vi e wish that each of you could have been with us on our memorable visit to W-Hollow . . . The Stuarts accorded us true Kentucky hospitality, with all the charm and gracious- ness which benefits royalty . . . We listened spell-bound to the stories and conversation of Jesse Stuart . . . We were captivated by the lovely personality of Naomi Deane Stuart . . . and we shall always remember Jane, who served us such delicious fudge . . . We hope that you. too. will enjoy meeting the Stuarts in our 1954 Revilonian.
