Text from Pages 1 - 68 of the 1977 volume:

1977 RUSSELLETTE Published by The Annual Staff Russell County Vocational School Lebanon, Va. SCULPTURE After our school was completed and classes started, it seemed to lack something out front. The flags were on one of the circular islands, while the other island did not have any- thing. This was when I first started thinking, planning and sketching something to erect. After many discarded sketches and a lot of thought, I came up with the present design. As our building being round, the circles in the sculpture denote the exterior walls. Also, as we offer a training program that educates the entire person, the circles denote this surrounding. Our shops and classrooms being pie shaped, or triangular, the triangles in the sculpture represents these. The points of the triangle represents the skills we teach our students, the character we mold into them and the desire to become a happy self-supporting citizen. This being a welded structure of steel symbolizes the faith and strength we have in our students. Beecher Jackson 2 ACHIEVEMENTS — 3 Mr. Vaughan Mrs. Deel This year the 1977 Russellette staff was divided into two sections, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Each section, by popular vote, chose a worthy person to Honor. The morning staff wish to dedicate the yearbook to Mr. Charles Vaughan. His continuous efforts and dedication to the Russell County Vocational School has been tremendous. His genuine friendliness to everyone has not gone unnoticed. The evening staff wish to dedicate the yearbook to Mrs. Phyllis Deel. She has been a constant inspiration to us in organizing the annual. Her unselfish devotion and warm compassion makes anyone fortunate to know her. Our many thanks to these fine individuals and may their further efforts be an accomplished success. 4 Larry A, Massie Principal Charles Lowdermilk Assistant Principal Sandra Parker Secretary James M.
