In Memoriam LEROY POLSTON HAROLD G OSBORNE Leroy Polston was born April 9 1937 and died January 26 1953 He would have been a member of the first graduating class from Russell County Hugh School had he not meta tragic death During the year of 1950 51 Leroy contracted a blood disease which kept hum from finishing his freshman year of school Then with recovery from this sickness while swimming with his friends, he received the :nlury which parallzed hum and eventually led to his death Through the long period of sickness Leroy was visited many times by his classmates He always was lolly and showed good spirits Leroy s mann interests were his church work and sports. He was a member of two organizations, the Boy Scouts and the Junior Conservation Club, in which he was an active member. He wanted to be a minister if he had recovered from his illness. His memory will forever remain In the minds of those who loved him and admired hum for his de sire to live and courage to die. These words are respectfully dedicated to the memory of Harold G Osborne, a normal fun loving boy who had a finger In practically every type of activity at school and whose boyish grin and sense of humor won his way into the hearts of his teachers and schoolmates Harold or Corny as he was known to his friends enlisted in the Air Forces immediately after graduating with the 1951 class of R S H S After one years tramlng he was sent to Nemuro, Japan as a radar tech n I clan He had been In Japan twenty months when he lost his life In a plane crash in the ocean off the coast of Japan The crash occurred February 1 1954 Harold s good sense of humor and ready smlle made him many friends wherever he went. He believed in true brotherhood among all men regardless of race, color or creed.
