When asked which instrument she liked better she couldn't exactly say. She liked them both, even though she felt the piano was harder to play. She had participated in several music contests in 1987 for the piano. She also won third in 1986 for the flute. This summer she went to the Doubletree Hotel and competed in the Alyce Ellis Annette Erwin Deric Falls Eric Falls f f 5 if , A W' 7 f fhif f ,Q Vyw f n is Shawn Freeze electone. The electone was where you were given a piece of music to play on a gigantic organ and you could change the arrangement of the music if you wanted. The judges judged you on how well you played and by the way you rearranged the music. Janet practiced about a half an hour every other day.
