The Math Department continued to ex- pand as Algebra teacher Mr. James Lloyd took on a Geometry class. Previously Geo metry was taught exclusively by Mr. Max Hoskin. Algebra I enrollment increased as one more class was added for a total of . six. Mr. Ernest Hester, department coordi- nator, said, Students are becoming more involved in math, and are becoming more interested in careers it may lead to. As science career opportunities increas- ed, students saw reason to enroll in such classes as Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. Mr. Charles Maupin headed the relatively small Science Department and commented We haven't gone to mini-courses, semes- ter courses, like many of the departments have. Our biggest problem is getting everything taught in two semesters. 7 1 Mr. Hayman gives a chalk talk on the complex- ities of division. 2 Mr. Hester explains that Physics isn't really that hard, if you know what you're doing. 3 Mr. Lloyd shows Wanda Ben- nett the principles of mathematics. 4 Mr. Allen listens to another fishy excuse. 5 Mr. Chism takes on an anti-bald student. 6 Who threw the compass? asks Mr. Hoskin. Mr. Michael Boothe, last year's chairman, took the position of assistant principal. One ofthe chairman's tasks is to keep close com- munication with other schools. The other task is correlating high school and jr. high school social studies. When Mr. Reynolds was asked how he liked his new position, he replied, There could be a great many improvements made in the department, and I feel through working with various levels of the department the improvement can be a reality this year. l Mr. Yocum lectures on the Third Reich. 2 Never start the car while I'm in it, demands Mr. Partridge. 3 'iDid you lose your hall pass again, Tony? asks Mr. Donnell 4 He went that away, exclaims Mr. Reynolds. 5 So Joe isn't here again, exclaims Mr. Bias.
