We came to realize that we didn't want to be numbers or slots punched in an IBM card with the warning to avoid bending, spindling, or mutilating. We want to be ourselves. We want to make our own mistakes and learn by them. We want responsibility but not so much that we forget how to enioy ourselves and life it- self. Not only are we a part of the group, but most impor- tantly, we are Individuals. This year we take time to look not iust at sports and activities but at the people that compose them, and in so doing, we focus on people and more specifically, on the ln- dividual. MIRAGE 7

Mirage Staff Honors Mrs. Mariorie Langford For more than twenty-five years Mrs. Mariorie E. Langford has been focusing her attention on individuals. She began her career in 1943, as a teacher in elementary school. In 1944 Mrs. Langford began teaching history and social studies at Ruskin. ln 1959 she became a counselor to college-bound seniors. This year she counseled students, who were divided alphabetically, along with the other counselors. The 1947 Mirage was dedicated to Mrs. Langford and her husband Marvin E. Langford, then principal of Ruskin. We feel it fitting, at the beginning of a new decade, to once again dedicate the Mirage to a woman who has ded- cated so many years of her life to helping young people become mature individuals.
