ACTIVITIES OF THE FRESHMAN CLASS At our first class meeting, we chose the following officers: President, Max Widfeldtg Vice-President, Irvin Reeves, Secretary, Geraldine Van Buskirkg Treasurer, Anabelle Vodickag Class Sponsor, Miss Leech. On Initiation Day the freshmen could be compared to the main attraction of a circus. The girls looked similar to clowns, dressed in their peculiar costumes. The boys were very queer looking, too. The girls wore men's overalls, which were wrong side out and put on backwards, as were their shirts. The boys wore bibless overalls cut to above the knee, with girls' sweaters. For footwear the girls wore high heels with anklets and the boys wore nylon hose and cowboy boots. The girls' hair style was quite becoming, braided and with onions for ribbons. Pin curls and wave clips looked cute on the boys' locks. Both girls and boys wore green ribbons around their wrists, neck, ankles, or wherever they would be visible. They also were a toothbrush on a string around their necks, carried paper sacks, and also lollipops. The boys wore make-up and earrings while the girls wore no make-up. When all of us reached school, the seniors took lipstick and printed in large, bold letters the word UFreshien across our foreheads. we had to bow to all seniors and say, Wlost honorable seniors, dearly beloved by all freshmen.n Another duty that we had was to shine their shoes. At 12:30 we met our partners at the C Q L Cafe. From there we marched to the high school where other fates befell us. The seniors gave a dance for the school that night, but it was especially for the freshmen. we had to wear the same costume to the dance, including the lipstick which had been applied all over our faces and in our ears that afternoon. Refreshments were served by the senior to conclude the event. We are very proud of the good work our freshmen lettermen did in football. They were Gerald Van Buskirk, Eugene Nyffler, Max Widfeldt, and Larry Bolek. The freshmen are now planning to gave a school dance in honor of the seniors who have so well guided us through this year.
