RHS District One Tournament RHS 53 Caledonia 44 RHS 53 Wykoff 44 RHS 46 Mabel-Canton 60 (Championship Game) The Trojan basketball team had a great year finishing with an overall 16-5 record. The team featured a balanced scoring attack with four of the starters averaging double-figures, and a pressing full-court defense. The team also had a very strong bench which helped win several games. Commenting on some of the players— Scott James led the team in scoring and rebounding. Keith Britt was a Co- Captain who was second in scoring and assists. Pete Julsrud was known as the best dribbler in the district and was Co-Captain. Kalin Dahl was third in scoring and the best free-throw shooter on the team. Donny Kjos was the 2nd leading rebounder and shot better than 70% from the foul line. Mike Ebner supplied the team with hustle and desire and was a great 6th man. Billy Culhane did a good job coming off the bench in crucial situations. All members of the team were valuable to the success of the team. Along with the great fan support shown during the season. Seniors Mike Ebner, Peter Julsrud, Coach Jeresek, Scott James. Keith Britt. They finished the season out with four straight wins to post a 6 and 4 record overall. In tournament action, the Trojans were very impressive placing 5 wrestlers in the Region Tournament: Jeff Johnson, Jeff Feine. Craig Jameson, Curtis LaFleur, and Paul Pederson advanced. The true key behind the years success lies in the fact that we had 6 seniors on the team: Jeff Feine and Bruce Williams (Co-Captain), Curtis LaFleur, Tom Butterfield, Craig Jameson, and Dale Nelson. These gentlemen were mainstays of the wrestling team for many years and their positions will be hard to fill. Seniors “B” Squad Larry Hanson, Ken Bode, Robert Brand, David Miller. The track season opened on a very optimistic performance. We scored twenty-five points against a strong Winona varsity team and LaCrosse Logan. The chances of retaining the District I title were good. However, injuries to several key performers soon dulled our chances. Several people turned into fine individual performances; Steve Culhane in the discus; Dean Feine and Jim Culhane in the shot; Don Kjos in the hurdles and sprints; Dave Brown in the high jump. Many underclassmen lettered this year and optimism is again the key word for Rush ford track next year.
