Rushford High School has been honored with the presence of Mary Turner, our foreign exchange student, who came to us from Brisbane, England. Mary, we want to thank you for your cheerful co-operation, but most of all, thank you for being with us because we the senior class sincerely enjoyed having you as a fellow classmate. AMERICANS ABROAD 1968-69, was an exciting year for Valencia Peterson and Susan Post. They were chosen as A.F.S. students representing Rushford in Australia and Brazil. Susan, chosen January 17, 1968, was a guest at the As-suda house in Recife, Brazil and Valencia chosen January 12, 1968, became a member of the Thomas A. Lamb family at Brisbane Queensland in Australia. American Field Service is an organization which for over 20 years has been providing scholarships so that students from other countries spend a year in the U.S. By meaningful involvement in a U.S. family, school and community, the student may gain an understanding of the United States, its people, educational system, customs and ideals, and spread this understanding among his family and friends after he returns home. Americans Abroad, a more recent program, involving summer programs of two months, over winter programs of a year, accomplish the sincere purpose of acquainting our students with countries abroad. While on a visit to Currumbin Bird Sanctuary of the South Coast of Queensland, Valencia makes friends with a kangaroo. Valencia and her family give a send off to Carolyn who left for Sidney. Pictured are Carolyn, Dad (Lamb), Mum, Valencia, and Janet. Finding a few minutes to relax, Valencia enjoys listening to records. u Valencia fits right into the family circle.
