To show our deep appreciation for your willingness to help us in any way possible, your unselfish giving of time and effort to speech and playwork, and your determination to teach us English despite our efforts at times to do the opposite; we, the Senior Class of 1961, proudly dedicate this Valley Legend to you, Mrs. Laura Hatleli, the teacher we feel has done the most to make our school years pleasant. FOOTBALL The football team this year won only two games. One of the worst setbacks was the fact that the team tied two games. There were three boys on the team that made the honorable mention; and they were Bob Jonsgaard, Larry LeNoir, and Claire 01stad. Every team has to lose sometime, but we hope to have a team in the future that will remain undefeated. Wrestling is a spcrt like all sports in that a team must be built up year after yearJn order to become successful. Wrestling was introduced at Rushford by this year's instructor, Dick Berg. Although they have had no previous experience with wrestling, the team has made a very good beginning. They had ten men out during the season with their weights ranging from 103 to 175 pounds. They will lose only two seniors, leaving some very pramLeing teams for the future. CHEERLEADERS Mary Rollefson Cheryl Bunke. Dubbs Margo Hoegh Nancy Kopperud Margo raamza Center: Mrs. Molinari. G. A. A, This year the G. A. A. was quite active. There was a large membership of over 80 girls. Meetings were held Tuesday nights, and some of the sports played were volleyball, softball, and basketball. They also went swimming. A series of playdays was held at the beginning of the year until a sport was chosen. Their goal for the year was to work toward physical fitness. OFFICERS. L. to R.: Adviser, Mrs. Molinari; V. Bountiful? I'm going, do you understand? D E C L A M A T I O N Then I've lostI In mid-December Mrs. Hatleli began working with contestants to prepare them for the local contest on February 7-contest play, The Trip to Bountiful was cast in early January. Rushford students made fine showings at the various contests, and we can all be proud of our director, Mrs. Hatleli. As there was no speech class this year, all work had to be done in the students' and advisers' spare time. 29 Front Row L. to R.: Gloria Bublitz, Carol Bellock, Carolyn Paulson, Jean Fogal, Norine Solberg, Gail Highum, Ann Penny, Kay Highum, Elizabeth Kahoun, Nancy Laumb, Sharon Kinneberg, Bonnie Anderson, Karen Culbertson, Sharon Kelly, Twilah Heiden, Nancy Iverson, Adviser, Mrs. Julsrud. Ihe F. S A. had a very special year. First of all, on October 8 Rushford was host to the i960 District Meeting which turned out to be a huge success. For the December project they went caroling and gave gifts to the persons at the Rest Home and packed good will baskets for the needy. On January 28 the Sno-Ball was held with the Top Hats providing the music for the enjoyable evening. The State Meeting was a highlight of the year, for at it Kathy Miller was installed as State President. She also attended the National Meeting. A fruitful yeaf is the only phrase that fits i960 for the F. H. A.
