It was a three act comedy telling of the sparkling and exuberant escapades of two delightful young girls. These girls were determined to prove how mature and cosmopolitan they could be on an uproarious and charming trip to Europe. Some of the seniors pictured above, were managers of publicity, costumes, stage props, sound effects, and prompting. Que silvous plait? A former teacher at Rushford, Mr. Loren Cle-land, was our guest speaker. The climax of the banquet was the announcing of the prom royalty, Pat Leuchtenberg and David Laffren-zen. Ken Burke s orchestra began playing our theme song April In Paris” at 8:30 and the prom was underway. Dancing continued until 11:30 at which time the couples left to change clothes for a movie and an early morning breakfast at the golf course....so ended the prom of 1958. Pat and David CLASS FRESHMEN YEAR CLASS OFFICERS: Pres.: C. Pfeifer, V.Pres.: D. Stephan,Sec.: B. Morken, Treas: J. Olness, Student Council: J. Leuchtenberg. When we, the graduating class of 1959, entered the freshmen year, we were all very thrilled at being able to attend many senior high activities. Our freshmen initiation was the highlight of that year. With the girls dressed in overalls and the boys dressed as babies, we were all quite a sight. It is, however, a memory we will never forget. Then in return, we gave a party for the sophomores. Another assignment we, as freshmen, had was decorating the auditorium for Homecoming. JUNIOR YEAR CLASS OFFICERS: Pres.: C. Pfeifer, V. Pres.: R. Dahl, Sec.: A. Gaustad, Treas.: C. Hum- ble, Student Council: L. Loerch and D. Stephan. Our junior year was a very eventful one. We selected our class rings, sponsored many post game dances, sold forget-me-nots and Trojan pins. The profits from these added to the treasury and were used to finance the big event of the year, the prom. With our advisors help, Mrs. Julsrud, Mr. Roemer, Mr. Nelson, and our mothers we presented the April In Paris banquet and prom. This help was greatly appreciated. HISTORY SOPHOMORE YEAR CLASS OFFICER: Pres.: C. Pfeifer, V. Pres.: S. Runger, Sec.: K. Berg, Treas.: D. Forsythe, Student Council: D. Stephan and L. Loerch. As sophomores, we had the privilege of initiating the freshmen. This gave us grea-c satisfaction for we finally got revenge. Our float entry this year proved very profitable because we won second prize. SENIOR YEAR CLASS OFFICERS: Pres.: C. Pfeifer, V. Pres.: S. Runger, Sec.: J. Leuchtenberg, Treas.: K. Berg, Student Council: L. Loerch, D. Stepan, F. Aloano. It is now the year 1958-1959 and we are the seniors at Rushford High. The principle task this year was to produce the VALLEY LEGEND. Under the excellent direction of Mrs. Ohnstad, we presented the senior class play Our Hearts Were Young and Gay. This year also, we exchanged class pictures and sent out our graduation announcements. We were very fortunate in having a foreign student, Florfina Albano, from the Phillipine Islands, in our class this year. Along with all the wonderful memories we have of Rushford High School, senior skip day and its experience will long be remembered. Front Row L. to R.: Advisor: Mrs. E. PRES. Jean. VICE PRES. David. Start right and end right that’s exactly what the Juniors have done. Early this school year they were busy salesladies and salesmen of pom poms and ball point pens to raise money for the prom. When basketball season came they willingly sponsored after game dapces for the same purpose. With all these preparations and collective efforts of the group, the prom turned out very successfully. Now they are ail set to be Seniors. They have already ordered and received their class rings and are planning on having their senior class pictures taker, this summer. Go on, Juniors! You have our prayers for your success. Front Row L. to R.: Advisor: Mr. E. In the fall, the members presented the annual fall concert at which time the junior members were awarded with pins. During basketball season, the band entertained the x’ans with very fine music. Soon after, rehearsing for the spring concert began. Majorettes B. Morken, C. Betz, D. Sennes, J. Kinneberg FIRST The senior members gave their last performance at this time. Individuals, and the band as a group, were tested on their achievements at the instrumental music contest also held in the spring. It is now the end of the year, and the positions held by the seniors are being filled by new members. Preparations are under way for the baccalaureate and commencement exercises which take place in Kay. The marching band will make its final appearance of the school year in the Memorial Day Services. Rushford had a very active group participating in the F. H. A. this year. F. H. A. stands for the Future Homemakers of America. Many things have been accomplished this year. In October, we went to Pine Island for our district meeting, and the members who attended found this meeting very worthwhile. In November, we had our U. N. E. S. C. 0. meeting. We invited the Mabel F. H. A. girls to this meeting. Florfina Albano was selected our honorary member of the year. We are very proud to have her in our F. H. A. In January we sponsored a Winter Snoball for the high school student% and the proceeds went to the March of Dimes. We are planning a field trip and a banquet in the spring. The F. F. A. has had many different activities and experiences this year. We have sent delegates to different conventions and on trips which proved to be very interesting. We are planning to have a banquet this spring. Also during the winter months we all enjoyed playing basketball. We also had Judging Teams for soil, beef, hogs, and chickens. The chapter as a whole has been learning much from these activities. Front Row L. to R.: Treas.: D. Knutson, Pres.: R. Dahl, Vice Pres.: M. Nelson, Sec.: M. Hanson. Row 2: Parliamentarian: M. Next came the Christmas program with the chorus singing one selection. Now we are preparing for our Spring concert and for the yearly contest, and with our able advisor, Mrs. Puent, we are sure to do our best. The ooys and girls glee clubs will also be participating in the contest this spring. The soloists and different senior high singing groups will also have a contest this spring, and we wish them all luck. We have enjoyed singing all types and kinds of music from sacred songs to country and folk styles. The final performances for the school year are the baccalaureate and graduation exercises. They decided how many pages they wanted, in what order to place the pages, the layout of the pictures, and the size of each. Finally after all these steps had been taken, the photographer was notified to come and take the pictures. As you remember, Mr. Ellickson came in October and we devoted an entire day to taking pictures. He came later in the winter to take pictures of some winter sports and a few other organizations which were not taken in the fall. There really is much work involved in putting ait an annual and w$ the annual staff, hope that our 1959 annual is a good production. I wonder if this mixture will explode . Every morning, bright and early. Ping is busy preparing herself for another typical school day as a senior at Rushford High School. At first Ping’s foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Quale were surprised to hear Ping bustling around atunheard of hours in the morning; but as time went on she adapted herself more and more to ourAmerican ways. When Ping arrives at school, always before her fellow classmates, she greets her tardy friends with a cheery Good Morning. As the day proceeds, Ping enthusiastically carries out her class work and activities. As we pore grudgingly over our books, we glance in her direction and notice a glow around her desk as she constantly strives to learn more and more. Not only in the class room, but also wherever there was a little extra job to be done Ping would be there to lend a hand. Ping, we want to thank you for your cheerful cooperation but most of all thank you for being with us—because we the senior class, sincerely enjoyed having you as a fellow classmate. May God bless you and guide you in whatever you choose to do.
