Appreciation Sometimes our light goes out but is blown again into flame by an encounter with another human being. Each of us owes the deepest thanks to those who have rekindled this inner light. It is well to give when unasked, but it is better to give unasked through understanding. And in the sweetness of friendship, let there be laughter and the sharing of pleasure. 4 You are now stepping into a world of friends. Each section has been designated as a road we travel. A Prayer Give me the serenity to accept what can’t he changed. Give me the courage to change what must be changed. Give me the wisdom to distinguish one from the other. Happiness is possible only when one is busy The body must will, The mind must be occupied. And the heart must be satisfied. 56 Rehearsals, Getting to practice on time, forgetting instruments and losing music. To sing is to love. And to affirm to fly. And some to coast into the hearts of people who listen To tell them that life is to live. That love is there. That nothing is a promise. But beauty exists. And must be hunted for and found. That death is a luxury. Better to be romanticized and sung about. Then to dwell upon, in the face of life. . . Joan Baez 58 Elementary Chorus Row One: Chris Rose. Janice Tullar. Linda Scott. Laura Worthington — March 8, 1978 64 As the game goes on the pace quickens. There are moments when everything is a whirl. . . faces bombard you. Time is your enemy. Every minute brings another face and still another. You have to run harder, try harder, take more shots, take more chances. Melaro: The yearbook editors are happy to inform you that the ‘78 yearbook is finally finished. You may now resume a normal household. There shall be no more irritating and worri- some phone calls and unexpected visits on weekends and vaca- tions. Maybe next year's yearbook staff will be fortunate enough to be in your home when the lights go out — not once, but three times. In the future we trust that they will be told that there are envelopes in the back of the quad-packs for pictures. Hopefully they will not misplace, lose, tear up or throw away pictures, and will meet at least one of the many, if not the final deadline. Sincerely. The Editors. As the editors of the ‘78 Tiger, we would like to express our sin- cerest appreciation and gratitude to all the people who so kindly gave us their understanding, support, and assistance including: the principal, the secretaries and staff of the school office, the faculty advisors of all the activities and organiza- tions. the coaches of boys' and girls' sports, our teachers, home- room teachers, janitors, our advisor, parents and families, and our fellow students and friends. Thank you. A Special Thank You To: Mrs. Linda Kim and Mrs. Carol Brown for putting up with cluttered tables as we worked, for the space our materials took in the A.V. Room, and for the tape, pens and pencils that we borrowed and never returned. But most of all. we would like to thank them for making us laugh when everything went wrong. Beth Goldsmith for her continued patience and time that she devoted in straightening out and identifying the underclass pic- tures. Doug Worthington for the limes we dragged him out of his home to open the school doors when we had forgotten an assortment of much needed materials. Laura Worthington — Senior Editor When we needed to finish our theme and couldn’t find the words. Laura began to write. When we needed a poem to place on a page and couldn't find one. she created one. When we needed encouragement and support on hectic days, she lifted our spirits. Throughout the year Laura has given us the har- mon needed to finish this book. Fred Haskins— Photographer Fred gave the yearbook one less headache by becoming our photographer late in the year. We'd like to thank him for his enthusiasm and the excellent job he achieved with the camera. The candids for the sports section are proof of a professional job well done under difficult situations. Debbie Hill — Assistant Editor A thank you to Debbie now seems trivial compared to the events throughout the year in which she has made my job eas- ier. Her strength and courage during the rough times have had a great affect on this book and on me. I feel nothing but grati- tude and respect for her. She has helped me to survive a task which at times had seemed like an ordeal. Diane Hagerdon Editor-in-Chief Audrey Pomeroy — Senior Editor Audrey's attention to details and willingness to help when asked has benefited this book. She has had to type and retype the copy on quad-packs many times. We are thankful for the assistance she has provided to obtain the money from patrons and donors. Diane Hagerdon — Editor-in-Chief There are no words adequate enough to describe the excellent job Diane has done in putting the '78 Tiger togethe. n though we were totally unorganr J J every deadimt her strength and vitality sustar uiiough it all. She spread her determination and enthusiasm among all who came in working contact with her. Diane is unlimited in what she can give and has given to this yearbook. The Staff Your friends say they'll keep in touch, but you know they won't. Your teachers say come back and see them, and you know you won't. Maybe someday it won't matter. But right now it hurts a little.
