The Student Council was organized in Rushford Central School during the school year, 1957-58. The committee elected to draw up the constitution was Donalee Baker, chairman; Dorothy Henry and Dale Slocum, representatives of the Senior Class; Ronnie Bump, representative of the Jun- ior Class; Kathy Springer and Richard Russ, representatives of the Sophomore Class; and Barbara Morris and Duane Hooper, representatives of the Freshman Class. The constitution, as presented by the committee, was adopted by the student body, and the election of officers was held. Elected were: Dale Slocum, President; Donalee Baker, V. Pres.; Karen Far- well, Secretary-Treasurer. The Student Council has embarked on an ambitious pro- gram, the fruits of which may not be in evidence until later this school year. Moreover, much that the council is plan- ning will be presented to the student body to take effect next year. The student council is at work and it sincerely hopes that the entire school will support this worthwhile organiza- tion. Library Club The Library Club is a service organization which assists the librarian in maintaining a good library. We in Rushford are proud of our beautiful library and in order to keep the library on a high level of service to the school, the Library Club does such tasks as checking books, checking shelves, stacking, cataloguing, and other related jobs. The reward of the active member of the club is one of service, and its members take pride in being a part of assuring efficient library service to our school. 34 1st ROW, L. to R.: Jane Wilklow, Ruth Sampson, Martha Covert, Barbara Lee, Sandra Albro, Kathleen Sprin- ger. 2nd ROW: Ronald Rykaczewski, Mary Jane Mountain, Veronica Rose, Marjorie Eaton, Sue Hardee, Judith Shafer, Karen Farwell, Meredith Durkee, Donalee Baker, Betty Lou Metcalf. 3rd ROW: Sharon Flynn, Judy Henry, Nancy Bialy, Joan Zweemer, Mrs. Bostwick, Ronnie Bump. Absent: Audrey Slocum. Central Chatter Staff THE CENTRAL CHATTER is the school magazine- newspaper which is issued once a month. Service is the greatest reward THE CENTRAL CHATTER can offer its active members. The newspaper is published and printed by the students. Through such work, the staff member gathers valuable information in journalism, and all the other phases of being a part of the fourth estate. THE CENTRAL CHATTER reflects the attitudes of the school, and when our newspaper is distributed to other interested schools, a little bit of personality of Rushford Central goes with it. There are times when the school may seem to take its newspaper for granted, but if an issue fails to show on time, it can be said truly that something is missing. 35 1st ROW, L. to R.: Marjorie Eaton, JoAnn Kopp, James Pomeroy, Dale Vickman. 2nd ROW: Sue Hardee, Donalee Baker, Veronica Rose, Elizabeth Clark, Susan Barr. 3rd ROW: Ronnie Bump. Bus Drivers POSTSCRIPT: The 1959 TIGER has attempted to record the events of Rushford Central School during the past year. For the Seniors this book becomes a book of memories; for the school, a book of record and memories. To the Seniors, RCS is indebted for making a TIGER possible this year. Those who have worked on the book have had much fun and experience--those who have given us their moral support will be pleased with our humble book--those who have supported us financially will be re- warded with memories--those who have aided us will find their reward on the printed page--and the Staff will know the warm feeling which comes from a labor of love well done. The Adviser Mrs. Catherine Williams, with her gadget bag full of equip- ment, responded to our beck and call to take pictures which we otherwisewould not have had for our book. We are humbly grateful for her service. We can best express our appreciation with, We'll call on you again, Kay. The End 48 f III f 1 y ;r
