Class History 1942 marked the beginning of our high school course with 17 members instead of our present 10 We elected Miss Phelps our advisor and she re mained so for the following two years When we were Sophomores we became the proud winners of the Class Achievement Award which is given to the most outstanding class each year Honor R s were awarded to nine of our members Charles Gruschow and Hugh Kneuer were active players on the Rush High Baseball and Basketball teams and continued so throughout their high school years Our life as Juniors was uneventful as most of us were diligently applying ourselves as students However the class enjoyed a delicious dmner cooked by the Junior girls and later attended the theatre for an evening Shirley Edwards and Donald DeMott were chosen Flag Guardians for 1945 Mr Yackel as our advisor A new studs nt Walter Frisbee Joined our class in January On March 29th we presented a three act play entitled Act Your Age which from all reports was a success and was attended by arecord crowd Shirley Edwards with one of the highe t averages of any Rush High stu dent became Valedlctorian and Donald Dc Mott became Salutatorian Six of the Seniors were in the Band for the last four years and nine in the Glee Club Every member of the class was active on the Newspaper Staff and the paper and working on the yearbook kept us busy until the end of the year and examination time June 24 1946 meant our big moment graduatlon Thus ended our happy and memorable days at Rush High A, Y 9 ' ' , . 7 ' v Our last year found us ready for traditional senior activities, and we elected ' . ' 3 y . ,. . . . ,, 77 ' , U . . y . . S . V , , 1 - - ' .
