CLASS PRUPHECY Slttmg IH my spac1ous off1ce 1n the Emp1re State Bu1ld1ng one dav I fD1ck 'lhomasj dc clded how mcr 1t would be to take a tr1p to Runnells and XlSll my old classmates Twenty years have elapsed s1nce our graduat1on and my memory 1S still full of the grand t1mes we had together at Runnells Hlgh Before gomg out of the c1ty ldec1ded to stop and buy a car Upon reachlng the West Used Car Lot we saw Gerald Howard st1l1trs1ng to sell h1s old green llord to Kenny Gerald now has h1s ownS b4 TV show The announcer of the show 15 speedy Roger Wh1te One more stop puts us at Ind1ar1apol1s where we see Daredevll Duane Goode speedmg around the track 1n h1s 55 Oldsmob1le Duane was qulte a sxght dr1v1ng w1th a gl1nt IH h1s eye and a three foot beard wh1pp1ng 1n the breeze l'1nally I drove my Cad1l1ac 1nto the blg metropol1s of Runnells When we flrst reached town we saw the s1gn Snev s Home for the Aged Propr1etor Beverly Fa1les w1th Jeannette W1lson as her asslstant Next we bumped 1nto m1ll1ona1re lfred Northway He lnformed me that he was the operator of a glant rabb1try 1n the suburb of Runnells Adelph1 Glenadlne Etter who has been s1ng1ng opera tGrand Ole Operal 1n Nashv1lle Tennessee flew home ua Raymond Welshon s Super A1rway Serv1ce He has Just 1nstalled 1n all h1s a1rl1ners a new super charged model A engme developed and tested by J1m Warren h1mself and J1rr1 lfr1st as Pr1nc1pal School takes up at noon and closes at 1 OO LOUISE Busby IS the coach wxth a record of one w1n and slxty losses Marlene Henry who has atta1ned nat1onal fame wr1t1ng and producmg plays IS head dramat1c teacher As we came to the newspaper offlce we saw Wanda Gulllng the crack reporter and edxtor of the Runnells Gazette tBy the way the Gazette has the W1d6St c1r culat1on 1n the U S w1th the Des Mo1nes Reg1ster w1nn1ng a close second and the Altoona Herald a close thlrd The buslest tax1 cab company 1n town now 1S Kave McCov s fleet w1th Waneta KUHZ19 and Carolyn DeJoode as dr1vers All of a sudden wondermg what the word se1smology meant Iopened my pocket d1ct1onary lNo not Damel Webster s but the better more complete ed1t1on known as Jovce Gask1n s Vocabularv L1st After seemg the grand town of Runnells agam I journeyed back to New York where I was jolned by my frxend and partner Jerry Adams who sa1d he had a sur prlse for me at the Copacabana Club owned by Marllyn Warren Upon arr1v1ng there we were very much enterta1ned to see Janxce Laffey do her famous ballet toe dance .hm Baker was our wa1ter and not bemg able to pay our b1ll we were promptly shown to the door by the bouncer of the place Barbara Prltz After seemg Runnells aga1n and my former classmates Iguess 1t s back to work agam so up the sta1rs and through the door wh1ch reads Adams and Thomas Attorneys at Law 1 f A I - . . . .
