CLASS HISTORY As we, the class of 1961, nostalgically look back on our four years at Regional, we know that we will never forget any of the wonderful things which have happened to us. As freshmen, we soon effaced the thought that the high school was simply a mass of upperclassmen, and we started on the road toward scholastic and athletic achievements and new friendships. Our class members joined many of the various activities including the freshman cheering squad, and athletic squads. Our class was honored and proud to have some of its members accepted into the dramatic field in the Tower Players' pro- duction of c'Stardust.,, We also had a large representation on the honor roll for this memorable year. ln our sophomore year we were included as permanent fixtures of the school and sought to make a definite impression on it. A member of our sophomore class was chosen as editor of the school paper, the first time this had ever occurred. Two classmates re- ceived national awards in a contest sponsored by the National French Honor Society of Secondary Schools. We participated in the Varsity Cheering squad and joined the foot- ball, basketball and track teams of our then new Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School. Energy and determination were the chief characteristics of our important junior year, and they were constructively used in many activities. The French and History Honor So- cieties Were instituted and their participants, many of our own class members, were re- warded with excursions to New York and Washington, D. C., respectively. Represen- tatives were selected from our class to attend Boys, and Girls' State. A good percentage of the English classes were present at the New York production of HOur Townf, Cul- minating the year was the traditional Junior-Senior Prom, the theme of which was uBlue Mansionsf, This was a most successful endeavor after long preparation and anticipation. Finally, as the recessional music of graduation filled the air and the seniors passed through the Daisy Chain, we were recognized as the new leaders of our school. Although the most part of our energies this year will be spent on the preparation of the yearbook and what we plan to be a memorable variety show, we hope that we will leave an indelible mark on the betterment of Regional. This year is an accumulation of all our past aspirations and achievements. We know we have added to the strength and accreditation of our school, and we hope that others passing through its corridors will be as proud as we are to have been members of its student body.
