l0R CLASS HI TORY In 1944 one hundred liity-eight mischievous and lively freshmen enrolled at Rule High School and entered into all the activities. Only one hundred twenty-eight ol the lreshman class returned as sophomores in the I-'all ol 1945. Experiences is a dear teacher. and some had leamed. 1946! We had passed probation and were at last inniors! The lollowing class oliicers were elected: lim Hood. president: Kenneth Pruett. vice president: Iuanita Wright. secretary: Bob Padgett. treasurer: Ed Lewis. social chairman. With the leaders the eighth and largest junior class in the history ot Rule High School began a suc- cessful year that was lilled with study and good times. The lirst activity sponsored by the class was an amateur hour. which was given in November. Iim Hood. lim Brewer. and George Gilbert cleverly announced the program, which was highlighted by a minstrel show that the boys ol the iunior class gave. Our Christmas party in the gymnasium was a ioyous occasion. Everyone received a gilt from under the gaily decorated tree. As spring rolled around it was time lor our iunior class play. Those Darling Brats. The cast con- sisted ol Clinton McCloud, Bobbie Iune McMurray. Shirley Thomas. Hope Farmer. Catherine Ingram. Ianet Hutson. lim Knight. lim Hood. Kathryn Childers, lim Brewer. and Bob Padgett. In March we were invited by the senior class to a party at the Iassamine Recreation Center. Everyone had a wonderlul time. Later, we were hosts to the senior class at the recreation center. lust as very other class had looked iorward to the Iunior-Senior Banquet. we, too. were excited over this important event. lt was given at Central Methodist Church. Emory Thompson. with the assistance ol the program committee, helped to make it an enioyable occasion lor the large number who attended. To end the year's activities. the iuniors had their outing at Chilhowee Park. Picnic lunches were prepared. and everyone had a good time skating. bowling. and lellowshipping with classmates. As the year was drawing to a close. we. the members ol the iuinor class, felt more capable ol being seniors: and yet. we were sad to know that our school days were nearly over. When eighty-nine ol the former iunior class retumed in the iall. we at last dignilied seniors. and were prepared lor hard studying. We again elected lim Hodd president. and Kenneth Pruett vice president. Shirley Thomas was our new secretary. and Bonnie Smith. treasurer. Iell Kesterson was elected editor ol our annual stall. and with the cooperation ol the other stall members we hope to have the best annual ever published by the senior class. Our first social activity was the annual barn warmin' party. lt was given in the gymnasium. which was lestively decorated ln lall colors. Iimmie Carter and Rowena Cox were selected as the comiest couple. Looking ahead on our social calendar we are awaiting the senior class play. our outing. the senior banquet. class night. and last ol all. commencement. We. as members ol the 1947 graduating class. wish to express our appreciation to our parents, teachers, and principal. for their guidance through thse years oi preparation. We shall never lorget our happy years at Rule High School. ,
