MR RALPH CHAMBERLIN Principal Rufus King High School recognizes its major role as that of producing- insofar as school education can-healthy, self-supporting, morally upright, and rationally be- haved young men and Womeng young men and women who as homemakers, as workers, and as citizens of their community, state, and nation are able and willing to support and improve our American Way of Life. To this end, our organization of classes and out- of-class activities is based upon an adequate program of guidance and counseling which takes into consideration the kinds and levels of talent and ability possessed by each youth and provides a school program which meets his needs as adequately as possible. The Three R's and More is the concern of this school for its youth. ll

MR. PIETER VERVLOET Mr. Pieter Vervloet was born in Utrect, Holland on March 5, 1903. After coming to this country he attended the University of Wisconsin where he obtained his Bachelors of Arts Degree. For sixteen years Mr. Vervloet dedicated his life to teaching King students. Instilling sound methods, honorable principles, and knowledge he helped form the lives of the youths of today to become the leaders of tomorrow. Al- though a sudden illness took Mr. Vervloet from us on December 31, 1955 we shall not forget him. We who have known and loved Mr. Vervloet will always cherish his memory. IN MEMORIAM Once more the soft shod Angel of the Lord Has stood within our midst Unseen. And yet we were aware He hovered near at hand Until there came a night He gathered close Within the shelter of his wings A man we loved And bore him Home To dwell forevermore Within his Father's House. This man was many things To us: husband and father Teacher, colleague, friend. Beloved by students He skillfully trained The Hand and Mind But, understanding, Firm, and Kind, with equal skill He taught the Heart And shaped the Will. He was true artisan Richly endowed, The magic of talent In his hand and touch. And of this wealth How generously He gave to us In many gracious ways What greater tribute Can we pay to him than this: Each life he touched Was better just because He lived, and taught, And served his fellowman. MR. CHARLES WESTHOFEN Vice Principal In today's modern scientific and industrial world, a high school education is a pre-requisite for success and happiness. Rufus King High School offers a curriculum which is geared to the abilities, interests, and plans beyond high school for the young people of our community. We earnestly hope that all of our students will take ad- vantage of the opportunities offered by our school.
