BOHN FOR RUFUS KING HIGH SCHOOL ANNUAL Anniversaries are milestones . . . they give us reason to pause and to take breath and to consider our journey-whence we have come and whither we are going. They are the meeting ground of memory and hope. During 1946, Milwaukee will commemorate its centennial. You and I and the people of the State and Nation will participate in a series of events which will mark this anniversary. We will take inventory of past achievements, and make plans for the future. A city is the heart of democracy. All over this country we have dozens of such great hearts beating in the form of cities, hearts manufacturing the blood of commerce and industry, and pumping it over a series of roads that are like veins and arteries extending from the city heart to the body of the land. Milwaukee is one of those great city hearts. And it is well that we pause during the centennial to consider our journey- whence we have come and whither we are going. In dedicating this Annual to Milwaukeeis centennial, we cannot over- look the great contributions made by Rufus King and other schools of Milwaukee to our city, county, state and nation. They have been, and shall continue to be, the bulwark of our civilization. As Mayhr of !Milwaukee, I should like to invite you to participate in Mi1waukee's tennial during 1946. .Ar A-4. X JOHN L.
