BASKETBALL The 5'7 - SB basketball season was a highly successful one. The team compiled a l8-3 complete season record. It came in second place in the Little Nine Conference. The only team to place higher was Drimley which the Pulldogs split with in two conference games. The only other team in the league that gave Rudyard trouble was St. Ignace which also split two games with Rudyard. In tournament play the Bulldogs also fared well. In two games at Pickford they outclassed both Loretto and Vunising, After all of the celebrating the team packed their bags and headed for Negaunee. After the fine performance that the Bulldogs put on at Pickord everybody had high hones for a regional title. Rudyard was naired against Crystal Falls who had a lO-6 record un to tournament time. In the game the Bulldogs who did not play up to oar, were defeated by the taller Crystal Falls team. The Bulldogs this year were a very balanced team, with everyone on the team able to help win a hallgame. Rudyard had three players who averaged almost lh points per game. They were Tugene Ross, Marshall Nelson and Paul Steikar. Dennis Irwin, Larry Valett and Fred Kobera were the boys that did most of the rebounding. Reserves like Jim Sherman, Hichard Ross, Richard Captain, Willard Vowes and Lloyd Jacobson all did their share both in oractise and games to make the year a very success- ful one. As for next year, who knows, Doesn't Coach Jarvie always come up with a good team. 11' 1l,::,4:2N:.ii X YW' fs , K1 W 1 53 J, fx ff? SGA 1 I wtf? ...J -Stix 64' v at
