SOCIAL COMMITTEE Miss Virginia MacArthur faculty advisor Conroy Zippel chairman John L. Grimm secre tary Bohdan Rymarenko treasurer Marjorie Koff Jane Smadbeck Diane Bellamy Rosemarie Lampros Karen Korsh Spencer Goodman Diana Susskind Corinne Moor Neal Wadler This year, owing to a more efficient organization, the Social Committee can look with pleasure at many eventful social occasions. The first dance of the school year, the traditional welcome to freshmen and new students, was a hilarious and enormously successful evening. The Seniors were our beatn hosts. The welcoming committee was camped on the sidewalk complete with beards and candles. In fact, all members of the twelfth grade were dressed in Beatnik attire. As the year progressed, the buzzing Frosh hosted a dance for the freshmen and sophomores only Ca new policyl, with a political motif: campaign posters of presidential candidates. In December, following a discussion of college experiences, the alumni, joined by the juniors and Seniors took part in an animated evening of dinner and dance. The basketball Hop, which took place towards the end of January was given by the Social Committee. Our sister-school, Waldorf, attended for an informal afternoon of dancing. The first hand-dance of the '60-'61 season was the Valentine dance. The character and success of this affair were in keeping with the ebullient nature of its hosts, the sophomores. The Junior Prom, to be held in June, promises an unforgettable adieu in honor of our Seniors.
