-5 Which staff member at Ruby Van Meter School can say that she has known most of this year's graduating class since they began their school years at Slinker? The 1977 Viking is dedicated to just that person--Geri Crow. When former Ruby Van Meter teacher Mary Fern Crawford met Geri Crow, Geri was teaching Kindergarten Sunday School at First Baptist Church. Miss Craw- ford recognized Geri's special talent with children and encouraged her to become a teacher's aide with the mentally retarded. It was then in 1960, the first year at Slin- ker School, that Geri became Miss Crawford's aide. There was only one other teacher and aide -team that year. Geri later became the first teacher of mentally re- tarded children at a Vacation Bible School at First Bapist Church. Everyone who knows Geri knows what a loving, family oriented person she is. Geri and her husband Bob are the parents of two married daughters and the grandparents of six grandsons. Unfortunately, they all live out of town, but Geri eagerly looks forward to visits in -their homes or when they come to see her. Geri is still active at First Baptist Church in her circle and also in the Sunday School class that she and Bob attend. Every Spring Geri and Bob begin work on their garden and Spring always brings flowers and cuttings from Geri's beautiful yard. After Geri's many years of devotion to Slinker, and now Ruby Van Meter students, we hope that this dedication brings Geri the thanks she so richly deserves.
