Larger quonriries of work were assigned and in rurn producrion from rhe srudenrs wos expecred ro increase. Many fresh- men dove righr inro rhe broader range of edu- carion opporruniries and launched off rheir high school years wirh a foreign languoge such os French, German, or Spanish. Orher freshmen challenged themselves wirh algebra and ad- vanced English classes. They rhrived on elective dosses, selecting orrs and crafts, dromo, photog- raphy ond woodshop to name o few. A more odulr routine was offered and oppre cioted greatly by industrious, career minded freshmen. Lisa Umscheid, who was advanced inro rhe 9th grade a year eorly enjoys the senior high environment for the simple reason, I ap- preciate parents and teachers who acknowl- edge the fact that we ore growing up. It seems to sink in when a parent sees his kid in high school. Jeff Hursf dearly announced that he likes Rubidoux because, I am treated more like on adult here. As eighth graders we were treated like babies and I don ' t miss that ot all. On the controry, Michelle Bessette thought it more comforroble being an upperclossmen ro 7th graders rorher than rhe youngest of rhe student body. I 1.
