Lorry has been saving TV Guides since July 1981 when rhe guide op peered wirh o hard binding. He originally srorred collecting TV Guides in 1974 ond hod opproxi- marely 60 ro 70 issues before rhey were losr in his move from Oronge Counry ro Riverside. Lorry firsr srorred collecring rhe magazines be- cause of rhe differenr pictures on rhe cover and throughout each issue. Lorry explained, I like ro look in post issues to see whot shows were popular, and whor was happening around rhe world then. One mighr rhink rhor rhis is exrremely srrange, bur Lorry thinks, Veil, it ' s somerhing differenr. When some people rhink or hear obour FCI rhey rhink ir is only abour sex educorion, bur basically rhe course reaches srudenrs how ro deal wirh life ' s problems. Ir also reoches rhem obour themselves ond orhers. Ms. Weaver, o former teacher of FCI srored, I think it is definire- ly needed. Family Life teaches srudenrs ro have o posirive self image of rhemselves and orhers. Since rhere ore o greor number of reenage pregnoncies, Family Life addresses rhe problem ond how ro deal wirh it. In oddirion, srudenrs leorn how ro prevenr pregnancy. Originally, RH5 was builr ro accommodore 1900 srudenrs, bur now hos opproxinnorely 2600 srudenrs rrying ro occupy rhe sonne space. Many juniors and orhers in rhe communiry feel oddirionol fociliries should be added ro RHS ro help ease rhe growing pains, while orhers advo- care building anorher high school. Ir would be easier ro reach a smaller class, because I could devore more rime ro rhe sru- denrs who need exrra help, onswered Mr. Wright, when asked how he feir obour reach- ing in a crowded classroom. And srudenrs ore more willing ro learn in an envlronmenr rhar is less cramped. Alrhough many classrooms hove 36 srudenrs in each, ond rhe lunch lines seemed ro be miles long, many juniors would hare ro rransfer ro anorher school and leave rheir friends behind. Bur Jennifer Duszko remorked, I rhink we need anorher school: I could always see my friends.
