The PSAT, Prelimi- nary Scholastic Aprirude Tesr, was beneficiol ro many Juniors wirh rhe rhoughr of college in mind. The PSAT gave Juniors o chonce ro have a preview of whor rhe SAT would be like when roken in rheir senior year. The resr given on October 27, 1981 rook approximarely two and a half hours ro complere. The minds and pencils of mony Juniors worked diligenrly ro finish rhe resr. When rhe rime was up, some noriced blank spaces where answers should hove been. Those who rook rhe resr discovered ir wos harder rhon rhey expecred. Missy Johnson blunrly srored, I rhoughr ir was hord, bur ir mighr pay off for some srudenrs. Scholarships are ovoiloble for srudenrs who receive high scores on rhe resr. For rhe Norionol Merir Scholarships juniors need ro receive 98% or more on rhe resr ro have c chonce for rhe scholarships. Horse Comperirions Bring Many Awards srorred off wirh one mare five years ago, and I now hove six horses, ' ' srared Renee Weif- zel. Renee travels ro Pomona fairgrounds, Son- ro Darboro, ond New Mexico ro show her well groomed horses. All of her devorion and work hove paid off, for she hos approximoreiy 147 ribbons, 25 first places, ond 12 rrophies. Renee won rhese by riding English, Western, Halter style and by borrei racing her mare Gymkana. Renee has her own arena in which she con train all of her horses, When working a horse to its full capacity, you want to worl them about two hours, stated Renee. Renee thinl ;s that, The best part of having a mare is when rhe mare has a foal.
