Our student council which was organized in 1950 has accomplished many worth while projects. Among these are the achievement letter program and student assembly programs. In April of our Junior year, using a Gypsy background as our theme we gave the Junior-Senior Banquet for the graduating class. Betty Smith was elected Homecoming Queen with Marianne Meier and Carolee Fox as her attendants. Nada Winkler, Marianne Meier, and Marjorie Josefiak went to school to ether for twelve years but started at a country school and joined the Rozel Cfass in the sixth grade. ' One of the most enjoyable events of our Senior year was our trip to St. Louis. Our Senior class motto is Wish Less: Do More, the class colors are red and white, and the class flower is the American Beauty Rose. SMITH ELECTRIC, Larned 10 SENIOR TRIP On Tuesday morning, May the 4th, the seventeen seniors, not including Marjorie Appel, and their ten sponsors left on their senior trip. Our spon- sors were: Mr. and Mrs. Joe Blattner, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Manka, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Josefiak, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Gibson, and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Meier. We left Rozel behind in a cloud of dust and eagerly looked forward to our first stop which would be in Hutchinson. After a short ride we arrived at the Carey Salt Mines in Hutchinson about 9:20. We then enjoyed a one and a half hour visit 645 feet below the ground. After leaving the mine we continued on our way to Newton, where we ate dinner at the terminal Harvey House. After dinner several of the group decided we needed some excitement on the trip so they purchased water iiuns. With drenched hair and wet clothes we continued on our way to Nevada, issouri. We arrived in Nevada at our motel, The Pleasant Inn, about 5:30. We retired to our cabins for a rest before supper. After supper at a cafe adjoining our motel, the group decided to attend the movie How to Marry a Millionaire. The first night we had some excitement when we discovered that Gloria and Leora were missing. After looking everywhere for them and after waking up everyone in the motel we found them hidden under one of the beds in our cabin. We left Nevada about 6:30 that morning and ate breakfast at a little place called Hermitta e. Around eleven O'clock we arrived at the Parkview Re sort overlooking the iake of the Ozarks, where we were to spend the rest of the day and the night. We visited the famous Bridal Cave and enjoyed a view of the entire Lake of the Ozarks from a forest ranger's tower. After dinner we spent almost three and one half hours motor boat riding on the lake. That I evenin we had a picnic supper and later on danced to a juke box in the resort dining qiall. DITUS BROS. , Burdett WILLIAMSON DRUG CO. , Kinsley SENIOR TRIP Qcontinuedj The next morning we drove over the Bagnall Dam, ate breakfast at Eldon Missouri, and planned to attend a major lea ue baseball game in St. Louis, but due to rain it was postponed. We arrivef in St. Louis and went to the Melbourne Hotel, where we had reservations, and then spent the remainder of the day shopping in the rain. After supper we attended an indoor police circus in the huge arena in St. Louis. We visited the world-famous St. Louis Zoo, the Chevrolet Assembly Plant, and the Fisher Body Company the next day. After dinner at a cafeteria we visited the Federal Reserve Bank. That afternoon we took a two and one half hour educational tour of St. Louis on a sightseeing bus. On this tour we saw such places as, the Mississippi River, the world's largest showboat, the rich section and slum section o t. Louis, the Jefferson Memorial, and the Union Station. We had reservations for that night at the Chase Hotel, one of the lar est in St. Louis, where we were all to eat our first five course meal. We as enjoyed our hu e meal and the floor show following the meal. We all danced for awhile and tgen took taxis back to our hotel. The next morning after breakfast we left St. Louis and headed for Kansas City. Our first stop in Kansas City was at the Municipal Airport where severa of the group took a view of Kansas City from the air. We then went to the Dixon Hotel where we were to stay that night. The evening's entertainment was varied since we were free to go where we wished. The next mornin , after breakfast, a very tired but happy group of seniors left Kansas City for the last lap of the trip. We drove around the K. U. Campus and stopped at the capital buildin in Topeka. We ate dinner at Manhattan and arrived at Rozel about 6: 30 witix many wonde rful places left behind us, and with many life-long memories fresh in our minds.
