In the beginning of our high school education, our class consisted of thirteen Green Freshmeng our present eleven members plus two who have dropped out, Wanda Stiles and Jerry Quisenberry. We elected Mr. Fisher as our class sponsor. Our school plant facilities consisted of the vocational building. In March, we moved into the new building. We had the privilege of being the ,first Freshman Class to go into the new school building. The upperclassmen entertained , the Freshman Class with a picnic and initiation at the Kershner Dam. Two members of the Sophomore Class, Wanda Parrott and Loretta Price, had the honor of assisting the Juniors in presenting their Junior Play. We elected Joe Blattner as our class sponsor. He has continued this task as sponsor for the last three years: much to his regret. The Sophomores violated school regulations by attending a show in Kinsley. Richard Wagner and Joe Blattner were in HOT WATER! AND HOW! ? ? During the Junior year, the class entertained themselves with two class parties. In April, the members presented the play Private Secretary, which was delayed because Bill Winkler had the flu. It was directed by Mrs. Pennington. Our Junior-Senior Banquet was given on May 3--the theme was Hitch Your Wagon To A Star. All the class of '53 returned to school in September with the ex- ception of Wanda Stiles. We gave our Senior Play, Father Be Calm, on November 21, before a large audience. Miss Spreier was the director. The Senior Class voted to publish an annual, Tiger Memories, and after much fun and a great deal of work, was com- pleted with the assistance of the entire Senior Class and our sponsor, Mr. Blattner. Four members of our class played on the basketball team which had a successful season--going all the way to the Regionals before being eliminated by Deerfield--winner of the Regional Tourna- ment. We left Tuesday, April Z6, for Colorado on our Senior Trip. We covered many points of interest in Pueblo, Canon City, Royal Gorge, Colorado Springs, and Denver. We returned home Sunday, May 3. It was a very happy group of Seniors who received their diplomas the evening of May 14. We will always have many pleasant memories of Rozel High School. 1 Z t
