The High School band led the floats in the parade. ikb Qumu owb A v Cowdb From the first roar of the kick off, to the last dance that night, Homecoming was another memorable event for the students. This year the pagentry of the parade through Muncie, gave fans and players alike unyielding spirit. The Redbirds did their best but their efforts were spoiled by a powerful Highland line. Defeat followed 32-20. Following the ballgame, stu- dents attended the dance in the gym. The alumni association presented trophies to the winners of the best floats. The highlight of the evening was the crown- ing of Miss Terri Chalfant, homecoming queen, of 1964. Terri ' s senior attendants were Sue Harris and Sandy Neal. The junior attendant was Judy Wright, the cute and fun-loving con- tender for next year ' s honors. The sophomore representative was Sue Constant, the gracious and pert, B-team cheerleader. Last but not least was Debby Hoover, popular freshman, and new- comer to Royerton. The crowning of the Homecoming Queen. Candidates enjoyed music while dancing with escorts. The teachers at RHS have equipped stu- dents with a frame of mind which should prompt satisfactory work in college or on the job. The faculty sponsored field trips, college visitations, clubs, contests, and athletic teams. The extra hours donated by willing teachers have stimulated student interest in a much wider range of intellectual pursuits. An interested faculty in student prepara- tion and a wide range of testing have helped students understand their capabilities and limitations, thus preventing problems. The past year has had the ear-marks of success. More students than ever before plan to go to college. This has shown the ability of the faculty to provide the mental stimulus necessary to prompt the able student into a higher degree of education. Although the team compiled only a 1-8 record, both the head coach and assistant coach Steve Lookabaugh instilled in the boys great spirit. A lone win over Geveva highlighted the season. The fourteen seniors sparking the season were Rick Bettegnies, Rene Van Fleet, and Carle Leslie, tackles; Jeep Brock, full- back; Carl Leach, Joe Booher, Dick Turner, and Dan Modlin, guards; Pat Ertle, center; Ted Dixon, end; Terry Taylor, Terry Kling- ensmith, and Dennis Stewart, halfbacks; and Scot Fisher, quarterback. Ted Dixon was a first team MVC choice with Rene Van Fleet, Dick Turner, Carl Leach, and Scot Fisher receiving honorable mention. High steps and high kicks were performed in the cold weather, as freezing twirlers and Pom Pons kept a smile on their faces. Singing for convocations, special programs and engagements, and for per- sonal enjoyment were 50 members of the Robed Choir. The Robed Choir, under the direction of Treva Riggin, brought many honors to Royerton. They performed for several church festivals, civic organizations, and clubs. In addition, they attended the district contest at Ball State University. The Que Seras, one of the three special groups, was organized this year. This group was organized by the senior girls who wished to develop their singing ability. The Pace Setters, another singing group, was organized by the senior boys. They showed great talent and ability in music through receiving high honors at district and state contests. The third group specially organized this year was the Selectones. This organization consisted of students in high school whose ability to read music was shown through auditions. GalW N w Pt ttge Twinkle Toes - Singer, talented senior dancer. Already initiated members found much excitement this year in planning a different type of initiation. Here everyone, members as well as initiated, are shown attired in Roman costumes. Costumes were of quaint Roman design and material prepared by each member to add a spirit which was ever so present at the great Roman Banquets of old. There were those who chose to appear as knights with their armor, which was such a part of the Roman custom. The decorations were quite simple. There were a few pieces of Roman furniture, which had been sprayed with gold to add some richness to the surroundings. Other decorations used were fancy cushions to create the true like- ness of what the Romans themselves would have been accustomed. Romans were always seated on cushions on the ground before partaking of any food served at the Banquets. So in keeping with the customs of long ago all members joined in to make every- thing a grand Roman affair. Ut v Ctjub Otqcwugds Ro wo i Bcwcfyjeb ROW 1: A. Fisher, P. Wesley, J. Smith, J.
