FCDOTBALL- SPCDRT SEASON'S CPENER The fall of 1956 saw the Redbirds capture their fourth straight M.V.C. championship title and in addition, com- plete their second consecutive undefeated season. Royerton grid men were under the excellent guidance of coach Bob Baker and his new assistant, Wally Gartee. Grim determination along with an unyielding desire to win enabled the Redbirds to reach the highest peak of the school's football history. Playing a tough eight game schedule, the Redbirds scored a total of 208 points for an average of 26 points per game. Defensively they yielded only 44 points to their opponents for an average of 5.5 per game. Royer- ton scored 25 of 31 TD's by rushing, four by passing, and two by pass interceptions. Eight members of this year's football squad were selected to the Mississinewa Valley all conference teams. Those selected for first team were Tom Bruin, halfback, Don Stamper, end, Charley Hillman, fullback, Bruce Crockett, tackle and Ogal Claspell, guard.
