HIGHLIGHTING HEALTH In the interest of safety to the pupils, a school intirmary was established this year. Situated in the iunior high building, the tirst aid room is equipped for minor iniuries. Mrs. Carolyn Buchanan, R.N., is on duty throughout the day. She works under the authorization of Doctor Richard Ko, school doctor, who is on call for serious emergencies. Doctor Ko also directs the school immunization program. Mrs. Buchanan treated over 1500 students in a three month period, averag- ing 26 daily. The greatest number treated in one day was 44. These ailments includ- ed almost everything from a horsebite to a toothache. Moreover, several teachers and cafe- teria cooks have taken advantage ofthe services offered by the intirmary. The most common illness among teachers? You guessed it-a headache! Everything looks crawlish-new miscropscope demonstrated by 8 Prof Stebbins. . v, 1 5' f- ' s i . ,X K 1 . .4 .g -x i it ,f f . Jim Stroud, iunior, acts as master of ceremonies for the Lincoln Day convocation. Boom, Boom the Drums repeats James Mans- tield's junior literature class. The students read this poem during the Lincoln Day Convocation. , FJ . , Robert Mitchum, director of music, introduces the Wabash College Glee Club. The group presented a variety concert to the iunior and senior high schools. ., - fi.,- EQ .553 . Members of the combined iunior and senior high school Boys' Glee Club perform forthe Lin- coln Day Convocation. Mrs. Treva Riggin directs, while Danny Kidd, sophomore, accompanies the group. A series of convocations were scheduled forthe year l956-57 to develop and broaden the students' interests. The convocation committee, who was ap- pointed by Mr. Penrod, brought to the pupils several timely and entertaining programs. Robert Mitchum and his Wabash College Glee Club appeared early in the fall. Rev. Arthur McDavitt presented a convo in February commemorating Abraham Lincoln. Roy- ertonites, themselves, participated in a panel discus- sion, How Do Other Countries Feel Toward the United States. History ll and lll students represented such nations as Egypt, England, and Germany. Members of the Convo Committee were Mr. Phillips, Mrs. Showalter, Mr. Miller, Mrs. Quick, Miss Richardson, and Mrs. Morris. 9
