Mr. Leonard Gantz, Sponsor Class Sponsors We, the seniors, wish to express our sincere gratitude to our sponsors for the four years of hard work, guid- ance, and friendship that they have unselfishly given us. The Christmas program, carnival, class plays, and most of all the sen- ior trip would not have been possible without the hard work and invaluable aid of our sponsors. We are also most grateful for the time our sponsors sacrificed behind the scene - making out the attend- ance records and supervising the candy room. Without our sponsors, none of our high school years would have at- tained any degree of success. When- ever they were needed, they were always ready to assist. Eighth Grade Junior high school is a vital part of every student's educa- tional life. lt is within this short two-year span that he discovers such unheard of things as ink pens, book reports, floats, home economics, shop, and the opposite sex. Each student who enters iunior high finds himself in a jungle of halls, books, home rooms, and new teachers. Fine guidance and careful supervision, however, offer the student a good opportunity to fully prepare himself for his high school life. x - . . t w 'f ij ' Q of :A : ' R 54,0 Y 8 'J Q' I-47 Y 5 4- .1 ' 'Ye' 'iv , v V J v Q l Lg, ' Al I wx ,mr h Q 54' k bp. Most of us had worked hard at summer iobs and played hard at our summer sports, but it was good to be back, finding old friends, making new ones, and exchanging the summer's accumulation of news with last year's classmates. Even with all the bewilderment and confusion of that first day, coming back was a happy occasion. Y V . W 2 QTDF f f si K . Q . 1 Q ill - s :V e is ' i ig , pgs lg .. High School Chorus The high school chorus has made spectacular growth in the last three years, increasing from approximately fifty to one hundred and fifty members. The chorus, under the direction of Mrs. Riggin, is one ofthe largest organi- zations in the high school. They have entertained large audiences throughout the year. They sang at the Christmas program for the Parent Teachers Association. Combining their talents with the band, they gave a show during the half-time at one of the basketball games. Highlighting their season was their appearance in April Showers , the spring music pro- gram. Panorama and Review Staff Brings You . . . News, Views, and Features lt is not an easy task to make up a school paper that has a circulation of 'l700. The content of each issue must appeal to students of all twelve grades. After the articles are written, the dum- my must be planned, headlines must be written, and proofreading must be done before the Royer- ton Review finally goes to the printer. However, it has been a pleasant assignment, and the senior iournalism class has thoroughly enioyed the privilege of bringing the monthly news to the Royer- ton student body. An equally difficult task concerns the organization of the school annual. This Panorama, which represents hard work and thorough planning, will always be a lasting record of the many friends, activities, and events that were part of our life at Royerton. The yearbook staff hopes that each purchaser will prize his copy. The experience that the class has gained in the actual work at making these two publications has been invaluable. Much credit goes to the editors of both the Panorama and the Royerton Re- view. We of the staFt also wish to thank our supervisor, Mr. Phillips, for the advice and assistance that he has given us. We signed up for classes, registered for lockers, and got acquainted with our new teach- ers. Class work soon began in earnest, and another school year was underway. Besides the daily routine of studies, extra curricular activities occupied a great part of our time - homecoming, football games, sock hops, iunior carnival, class plays, were very much a part of our school life. i Q-Q 1 J 4, 3 B05 Bflkef, H9045 C00Cl John Smith, Assistant Coach Redbirds Win 8-lose 0 - ,M 5 J 5 . Strong school spirit along with determination and desire to win, while maintain- ing good sportsmanship, was the keynote as the Royerton Redbirds wrapped up the only undefeated grid-season in the school's history. Eagerness to work together on the part of the team proved to be the deciding factor in all of the Redbird victories. Bone- crushing blocks and tackles by John Smith's hard working linemen, combined with a talented array of fleet backfieldmen tore many weary opponent apart. Bob Baker's Redbirds not only had the distinction of being one of the few unde- feated teams in the fall of 1955, but in addition, they were the highest scoring team in the state - scoring 324 points against the opposition's 76 told the story. All Conference Gordon Stauffer, Head Coach Inexperience llandicups VARSITY BASKETBALL Reclbird Five Mr. Gordon Stauffer, the former Michigan State basketball star and coach, found quite a rebuilding job on his hands when he took over as Royerton's basketball coach this year. Seven of last year's players were gone, and tive of these were starters. Only Norm Kuhn, Dick French, and Tom Bruin were listed on the roster at one time or an- other last year. Varsity experience therefore was almost nil. The team started slowly and found it difficult to play a whale game, hot. Coach Stauffer was forced to juggle his lineup often in anticipation of finding the right boys. The old adage that experience is never easily gained was well exemplified by the l955-56 edition ofthe Royerton High School basketball team. The Redbird men virtually fought and literally kicked their way through a rugged 21 game sched- ule. However, one cannot condemn a single player or coach, for while the boys had a losing season, they kept trying. They played hard, and they were always in the game. I - .. . .vw ..1 3 Administration A large school which is well-organized is dependent upon an efficient and capable administration. Royerton School is indeed fortunate in having three competent men to supervise the functions and affairs of the school. Mr. Clifford French, principal, Mr. John Brinkley, East Building principal, and Mr. Carl Miller, Hamilton Town- ship trustee have all played an important part in making the T955-56 school year a successful one. Through their combined eFforts, they have tried to provide the students of Royerton with a rich and full education. The faculty also has an important responsibility for they have the task of molding the lives of the students. Helping and advising the students, these men and women have given generously of their time to guide students to- ward their goals. Through the guidance and encourage- ment of the faculty, many students have been able to solve their problems. We, as students, appreciate what the Royerton faculty has done for us.
