A strong will, a settled purpose, an invincible determination can accomplish almost anythingg in this lies the distinction be- tween great men and little men. One need not attain the highest office in the land nor possess more material wealth than his neighbor to experience success. Neither should one idle away his time or talents on trivial chores when there are greater tasks to be accomplished. History ruords no greater period of opportunity or need for acquiring knowledge than the present. The peoples of the world are looking to us and begging with outstretched hands for light and leadership which are the trained minds and skillful hands. You are limited only by your indifference. As graduating seniors from Royerton High School, select the course which promises to bring the most satis- faction to you and also offer greatest opportunity for serving God and your fellow man. Work diligently. Do not be deterred by beckoning short-cuts, as there is only one road to success and it is marked with hard work, patience, and faith. Once you have embarked, keep faith in yourself and you can be assured that the joy and happiness of a success- ful life will be yours. Dear Seniors: What's in a name? Some of you have been Redbirds' for twelve yenrsg you have learned to love the name. Redbirds have become :i symbol for the enrollees and personnel of the Royerton School. The denotation of the word Redbird pictures the most beautiful of birds - the swift flash of red, visible, for the fleetest of instnnts! The connotation of the word suggests an exceedingly cheerful, active, and industrious disposition. The charm and enthusiasm of Redbird makes him welcome in his sanctuary. You as Redbirds have enjoyed this sanctuary - Royerton School - for twelve years. A Redbird has gracious ways! You, too, Seniors, have developed gracious ways. You are going to be missed at Royerton. We are truly grate- ful for your fine contributions to our school. Happily, the outcome of your experience at Royerton will be reciprocal E we hope, that is, we assume that the school may have given much to you, since you have, contributed so much to Royerton. To be worthy of the name Redbird is to be worthy of honor. MR. FRENCH. JOHN BRINKLEY, Principal East Building i FACULTY HERSCHEL BROWN B. S. There were many fears in the begin- ning that We w0uldn,t have things completed right and on time. But as work actually began - pictures and ideas were received - we began to gain confidence. There were com- mittees formed and issues decided. The editor, Alan Crooks and his assistant, Marilyn McCreery were kept con- tinually busy. The person who shouldered the real responsibility was our staff adviser, Mr. Phillips. He deserves much credit as he kept the staff working in order that we might meet our deadlines. We wish lots of luck and good for- tune to next year's seniors who will produce the SZ yearbook. We can promise them a wonderful time just working together for an even finer publication than ours. -THE STAFF. im., Ezfifor-in-Chief .....-........ .Alan Crooks Axxixfanf ..-......-- ..,, Marilyn McCreery Layonl ..... ..... ---.,..-, jack Clcvenger, Ronald Benner, Tom Weakley Copy Ezfilor ,.,....-1- Norma Huffer Claxx Ezliior .........-- Rhea jean Smith, Judy Smith Grarfe Ezfilor ..........--..-... Entering his second year at the Redbird helm, Coach Posey appeared ready to 'fcash in as he guided and finessed a group of willing but raw recruits through a very good season to win the county championship for 1951. Coach Posey will mourn the loss of at least a half-dozen lettermen through the sheepskin process. Mixell, J. Dalton, Humbarger, Riggin, and Wilhelm are lettermen returning to the fold. Fans and visitors to hardwood hockey contests often get a great kick from watching Posey maneuver his charges. Chuck seemed have a touch of Midas about him this winter trat brought several ball games out of the embers. Our coach seems to be a shrewd analysist of his ball club and its individual personalities. Charlie's boys have had a better than average season, winning 16 and losing but 6.
