H. S. The time has come for the departing of another class through the gradua- tion doors. Even though We are elated at knowing this, We shall miss Royerton School--each of us in a different way. In our years here at Royerton, be they long or short, we have learned through experience the importance of working and living together. We have learned that if We are to succeed, We must work. lf We can overcome our fears and difficulties in our future lives as we have in our school years, surely we are to succeed - as we have in the final goal of graduation. To our paren's and teachers, we would like to express our thanks for help- ing us to obtain the best education possible.. To the future graduates, We hope that you will find as much happiness and joy as we did in this, our Royerton School. J UN IOR IUNIOR LOG Iuniors of today, seniors of tomorrow. We will fill the place of our graduating seniors in the fall of '49. This will be a big job and one for which we must be prepared. One of the best ways to become familiar with our class is to meet those people who have been our leaders throughout the school year. These officers were elected in the fall ot '48. They are Iohn Dull, president, Don Fyfe, vice-president, lohn Pickell, secretary, and George Buschor, treasurer. They have done an efficient job in shouldering our respon- sibilities. The highlights ot our school year were the junior carnival and the junior play. We spent many long but interesting hours on these productions. Our activities were under the direction of our class sponsors, Mr, Stebbins and Miss McCoskey. To them, we are indeed grateful for their patience, guidance, and for the ex- cellent job they have done. We sincerely hope that the class oi '50 will be one, long remembered. We are already looking forward with anticipation to next year which holds so many interesting experiences in store for us. The junior class of R. H. S. has one more year of learning and living together. Let us hope that we can make it the best yet. CLASS OFFICERS First Row-Iackie Decker. Aft the beginning of the school year, we elected the following class officers-to direct our activities: Ioe Upchurch, president, Norma Cary, vice-president, Ioyce Reagan, secretary, and Ruth Beaty, treasurer. The highlights of our school year seem to be cen- tered around our sophomore skating party and various Christmas activities. However, basketball, football, and other activities have had their place in our school year. We are looking forward with much excitement to our junior year which is just around the corner. We are hoping the rest of our school days will follow somewhat the same pattern as that laid before us which includes such activities as plays, the junior carnival, and senior trip. V We have welcomed several new members into our class this year. They are Ioyce Reagan, lack Clevenger, Iohn Towriss, Iames Burcaw, and William McGee. We are very grateful to our class sponsors, Mr. Bixler and Mrs. Marcus, lor the excellent job they have done in directing our class activities. We are looking forward to the rest of our high school days and expect to take an active part in the future. 1 L '- A , www , 1 ,. The Freshmen Class, eighty-tour strong, entered high school with a slightly lost feeling, which We tried to cover up with an attitude of cockiness. The upper- classmen, tagging us green , soon put us in our proper place and sometimes gave us a helping hand so that, in spite ot confusing Latin and algebra, swe soon be- came a part of the ,daily routine and felt almost as im- portant as the upperclassmen. Chosen to be the leaders of our activities were: Iackie Zehner, presidentg Rose Rhonemus, vice-presidentg and Marilyn Crarnpton, secretary-treasurer. The highlight of our events came near the beginning of the year when we took a trip to Chicago, visiting the Field Museum, Museum of Science and lndustry, the Acquarium, and many places and sights some ot us had never dreamed of being able to see. A night spent in a hotel, Ca new experience for many of usl and a history of transportation pageant added to our enjoyment. What are we looking forward to? Three more years of high school, even better than our first one-years packed with work and play, learning and living. We hope our junior carnival, our junior and senior plays, and our senior trip will be the best that we can make them, and we hope that when we graduate in 1952, each one of jfs will be able to take his place in the world as a citizen which our class can be proud to claim. re at i . -2 , ' CLASS OFFICERS wW,,f'-j, ,gg Q First Row-Norma Branson, Marilyn Davis. With eager hearts and Willing hands We'1l tackle the tasks as they come, And the world will smile at the close of day On the end oi a course well run. EIGHTH . EIGHTH GRADE LOG As we entered our last year of Iunior High, we stood face to face with many bewildering situations. At least they seemed bewildering to us. But as days grew into weeks, we became more accustomed to our surround- ings At the present our class is eighty-seven in number. During the year we have welcomed several new mem- bers. Led by our sponsors, Mr. Dutro and Mrs. Van Skyock, we elected officers to guide our activities throughout the year. They are Donald Reese, president, Byron Hum' barger, vice-presidentg Mary lo Madill, secretary-treas- urerg and Hazel Taylor, news reporter. Highlights of the year were our class party and Christmas gift exchange. One of the bright signs of our future is our basketball team which has enjoyed a very successful season. The class of '53 is eagerly looking forward to four more years at Royerton High. We are all building to- gether to make better co-operation between underclass- men, and to make our class the best that has ever graduated from R. H. S. The average enrollment has stood above the one hundred mark the greater part of the year. Wide eyes and shaky knees constituted our entrance into lunior High School. The first few days of school we were somewhat bewildered. Seemingly, we were always getting into the wrong rooms at the wrong time. It wasn't long however, until we became adjusted to this new experience. During the year we welcomed three new members into our large class. They are Barbara lean Scott, from Penville, Hazel Harvey, from Rockford, Illinois, and Max Deisel from McKinley School in Muncie. Chosen to be our class officers were: Beverly Stephens, president, Iesse Harty, vice-president, Iackie Taylor, secretary, Iohn Wolfe, treasurer, and Billy Davis, news reporter. In various ways we have supported the physical education program whole heartedly. The Christmas party and gift exchange were greatly enjoyed by every- one. During the second semester a party was held in the gym and a picture was shown. Much credit for a successful year is due to Mrs. Brinson and Mr. Gantz, our sponsors. TOWRISS GETS ONE AWAY PN f CHEERLEADERS THE REDBIRDS TALK IT OVER AT THE HALF TIME BRAND GETS THE TIP GIRLS ATHLETIC s OQYXCYK The Gir1's Athletic Associa tion has played an important role in the physical education program ot Royerton High. The hot dog sellers at basketball games are familiar to patrons of Royerton, but that is just one of the Ways the G. A. A. mem- bers have to earn points for their award sweaters. The Girl's Ath- letic Association was organized to stimulate interest in girl's sports. Most of their athletic contests consist of intramural games. Girls are eligible to join when they are Freshmen and compile points during the four year period. They must have earned 1300 points to get sweat- ears in their senior year. G. A. A. also sponsors social activities of various kinds. +90 Q35 YL- ii5i55?D ON QCIATI s As 445' lffxygxj VFR XIV! TMTIOIV 'nil 7- 1 as -A rf, x , lvl? , f i y 5 ,,-Q .
