COUNTY' BASEBALL CHAMPS Our baseball team in warming up for all high school competition played ten games during the summer of 46 winning three of them. Members of the opposing teams were much older than our capable young boys. 1 The experience received from playing against those older ball clubs paid off, leading to the County Championship. Mr. Bixler and Mr. Brown attended baseball classes at Ball State and found this instruction very worth while. , Our fall baseball program was the desired acheivement of the schoolg winning every game and scores of many games resembled one-sided basketball scores rather than the usual baseball baseball scores. jerry Branson, our star pitcher, is credited with 84 strike outs and capable Carl O'Dell with 25 strike outs. The team garnered 138 runs to our opponents 5 and lll hits to our opponents 45. The batting average of the first ten men was a remarkable .359, with a high of .487 and a low of .305. The outstanding feat took place after we won the Delaware County Championship, when our team defeated the Randolph County Champions, Losantville, in a post season game 4-3 at McCul- louch Park. Each of the two teams up to that time had perfect records, but Royerton proved the better team and came home as the true Champions.
