Senior Cyan .Hia tory If was a brighf Sepfember day in fhe fall of ninefeen fhirfy-nine, when our good ship, fhe Freshman , launched from fhe porf of Royerfon, sei' sail on fhe vasf sea of educa- fion. The members of fhe crew of fhis fine vessel consisfed of Mary Hiaff, Ralph Law- son, Thomas Scoff, Vera Jean Sfraddling, Juanifa Sfrahan, Helen Ullom, Philip Hesson, Billie Ullom, Bob Meranda, Bonnie Kirkham, John Clevenger, George Wine, Donna McCreery, Marfha Leannah Harman, Glenn Bushey, Mariorie Hawk, Maurice Grile, Dur- ward Moore, Jay F. Sfrom, Lois Young, Ray Eller, Ralph McLaughlin, Mary Louise Siferd, Charles Brown, Max Burf, William Sargenf, Bill Walker, Don Byrd, George Fisher, and Howard Head. The capfain, chosen by fhe crew mem- bers af fhe sfarf of fhe voyage, was Miss Marfin, now Mrs. Brierly. Affer exploring fhe islands of English, Algebra, and Biology our faifhful liffle ship sailed back info porf in fhe spring buf mosf of fhe crew were dissafisfied wifh fhe boaf so we had anofher consfrucfed. The fall of nexf year, ninefeen forfy, saw us launching our new vessel, fhe Sopho- more , for anofher voyage. A new capfain was chosen fhis year for Mrs. Brierly had moved away. The new capfain was Mr. Newfon. We sailed happily fhrough English, Ancienf Hisfory, Geomefry, and Lafin wifh no ofher addifions fo our crew. Riding safely ouf of fhese wafers af fhe end of fhe school year we discovered fhaf 'rhe Sophomore would be foo small for fhe coming year so anofher ship was builf. Chrisfening our new ship fhe Junior , we again sei' sail nexf year, ninefeen forfy- one, buf fhis fime several people ioined our crew. They were Dick Swain, Roy Beal, Olive Tuffle, Loreffa Headley, Myrfle Guf- fey, and Paf Hillery. The crew also chose a new capfain, Mr. Sfebbins, fo guide us farfher info fhe greaf sea. In fhe spring we sailed once more info our home porf affer baffling successfully wifh English, Hisfory, Typing, and ofher subiecfs. The crew survived fhese baffles buf noi' fhe boaf. ln fhe fall of ninefeen forfy-fwo, wifh a new boaf, fhe Senior , we sef sail for fhe lasf fime on fhis wonderful sea of learning. Norma Flesher and Beaulah Harrison were added fo our crew fhis year while Mr. Sfebbins confinued fo guide our good ship fhrough fhe wafers. During fhis voyage, while we were deep in fhe sfudy of Civics, Chemisfry, Bookkeep- ing, and ofher sfudies, Howard Head was lured away from us fo anofher vessel. Thus we have fraversed fhese vasf wafers and have for fhe lasf fime headed info fhe porf of Royerfon wifh fhe feeling fhaf we have explored fhoroughly each opporfunify offered us and wifh fhe feeling, also, fhaf each of us are ready fo fry our hand af sail- ing our own vessel across fhe sea of life .
