MARK MEYERS M.V.P. The Cross-Country team did fair- ly well this year with third year letter winner Mark Meyers lead- ing the way. Sectionals were held in Richland Center this year. Mark Meyers, who was Mr. Calkin's only hope for going on to state, came in 19th out of 109 runners. Of the eight schools at the Royall Invitational, four of them had girls' teams. Mark Meyers was the team's cap- tain and also the most valuable player. The senior letter winners were Mark Meyers and Russ Kozlowski. Other letter winners were Don Crow, Kurt Bruce and Perry Hoppmann. Freshman Paul Hoppmann shows promise for the future. 1 Mark Meyers has a strong lead. 2 Sophomore Perry Hoppmann; a good runner for the future. 12 Cross-country; from left to right; P. TEAM IS SECOND IN CONFERENCE The first year in the Scenic Bluffs Conference was very successful. The season ended with an 8-2 record. That was the most games won by Royall in a number of years. Coach VanDeHey com- mented, We were disappointed in losing the conference championship, but the main thing is that we all enjoyed play- ing football. The captain was Kelly Vieth and the most valuable player was Bruce Miller. The J.V. also had a good year.
