A x Sports played an important part in every students life, whether he made his line plunges on the playing field or in the crowded bleachers. Playing or iust watching, nearly everyone was interested in the progress of each team and in the athletes of whom they were composed. of all the sports, football and basketball were probably the most popular with the spectators who had plenty to frazzle their nerves with such opponents as Birmingham and Berkley. Record-smashing became a habit for the swim- ming team which plowed its way to fourth place in the BCL League and to second place in the State Meet at Ann Arbor, Tennis, cross-country, baseball, golf, and track, though not so widely attended or publicized, were still important as their records show. Sports, we see as we look back, gave us many of the more exciting and pleasurable memories of school life, despite a few sprained muscles and raw throats from cheering. we -nl' tl v 4
