The trials we knew as freshmen Have faded with the years. Our long-sought goal was finally reached - We were the MIGHTY seniors. Excitement for the senior trip was felt by everyone, And off we went to the gay decked ship intent on having fun. The first few hours were warm and bright, but then the wind did blow. The ship just rolled, tossed and turned so everyone went below. The storm grew worse . . . we were so sick, but heedless of it all The Dark Town Strutters Poker Club played on despite the squall We all survived Cllhank God lj and lived to see ' our graduation day. Helen Raven Football Royal Oakls football team ended the 1951 season with two wins, six losses and one tie. Four mem- bers of the squad, Walt Burn- ard, Bruce Dempster, Jack Roosa and Bill Wilson are graduating in January. Burnard met some stiff compe- tition trying for the guard posi- tion, but proved himself and played most of the season. Dempster played defensive guard and was one of Royal Oakls most aggressive linemen. He was in on a good per cent of the tackles all season, and being chosen SOC tackle and given honorable men- tion on the All-State team proves this point. Wilson, defensive center, was a real asset to the Acorns. He acted as line captain during most of the season, and the team selected him as co-captain the night before the Birmingham game. Roosa was the Acorn quarter- back this season.
