Football The open1ng games of the season w1th Pont1ac and Mt Clemens were both lost by the Acorns as Pont1ac 1nvaded Cass F1eld w1th a very large and exper1enced team and scored once to w1n 7 to 0 The Bathers defeated the team after they were out played and out ga1ned IH yardage Man n1ng colored full back got away for two long runs and passed another 1n the fad1ng m1nutes of the game to g1VS them the scor1ng edge of 18 to 1? Paced by Flu the Oaks next defeated Grosse Po1nte 12 to 0 although they were only able to score tW1C6 They were a far super1or team but falled to score when deep ID Grosse Po1nte terr1tory The Wyandotte lnd1ans although undefeated were next to face the Oaks and were badly mauled as the Oak lme really came to l1fe and blocked for the ball carrrers scor1ng three t1mes 1n the second half to w1n 21 to 0 Fordson H1gh who th1s year was rated the best team 1n the state and were un defeated IU sewen stra1ght games trounced the Oaks 19 to O exh1b1t1ng some Hne passlng and ball carry ng Berkley H1gh although a smaller school came up w1th a xery fine ball team and a tr1ple threat back ID Reynolds who was always threat to the Oaks were defeated 18 to 6 as the larger Oak l1ne was too much for them Ferndale belng the underdog really looked l1ke a very strong team as they defeated the Oaks 9 to 7 under the l1ghts at Ferndale Both teams scored on long runs on a muddy field but the LIHCS ga1ned the1r extra two po1nts as the Oak k1cker stepped out of the end zone as he was attempt1ng to k1ck Hazel Park defeatmg Ferndale and Pontlac were badly out played by the Oaks who scored once 1n every per1od to w1n 25 to 6 Flu scored three touch downs Papln one Hdff1SOD was a conslstent ground ga1ner as he got off on several long runs After out rush1ng the Maple Leafs for four quar ters the Oaks dropped the annual Thanksg1v1ng game 6 to O as Sp1egel 1ntercepted an Oak pass deep 1n Oak terr1tory and scored on a short pass Flu smashed very cons1stently for yardage but every scorlng chance was halted by penaltles Pontlac Mt Clemens Crosse Po1nte Wyandotte Fordson Berkley Ferndale Hazel Park Blrmmgham Schedule Total L pp R O 1 . , , . , 3 I I .
