FOREWORD Summer vacation has ended. The Caller-Times has announced that schools are to open on September first, More than seventeen hundred students enrolled. Although it was the hot test September on record, classes began serious study. Finally, a cool norther blew in and it began to feel like autumn. Leaves were falling and football was in the air. As the Battling Bucs climbed higher and higher in the rating of the As- sociated Press, Roy Miller was jumping with school spirit. We won the city championship, we won district, we won bi-district, and lost a heartbreaker in the semiafinals. Despite the fact that snowflakes fall very seldom in Corpus Christi, they are still the symbol of wintertime for us. The staff chose them instead of poinset- tias to illustrate the winter section of the annual. Johnny Estrada, our staff photographer, began taking pictures of the clubs and organizations which were really buzzing with activities. Favorites were elected by the classes and an- nounced at the Favorites Dance. Basketball became the center of attention for the Miller fans. Spring brought rain to the Gulf area. Raindrops on the window-pane re- minded us that we were on the last lap of the school year. Baseball, track, tennis, and golf occupied the time of the athletic students. lnterscholastic c o n te s t s added excitement to our studies. Seniors produced their class play. Final exami- nations, the senior prom, and commencement crowded the calendar during the last week of school. The Duffle Bags were distributed in time to allow students to autograph them, Scribble parties were held in the cafeteria, in the halls, on the front steps, and in homes until every page in every annual was full of farewell messages. We hope that your 1955 Duffle Bag has told the story of this school year so that you may look into its pages in years to come and capture again the thrills, joys, and experiences of your high school days. .qilze 1 Q5 5 raffle ag Staff
