L! JCI' Ml' SAQWEQ Our opening pages carry the theme of oil as one of the sources of wealth that upholds the standards of the education for our youth. In the language of the oil-field, we have told the story of Roy Miller High School. A student's search for knowledge, found hidden in the pages of books, is likened to the geologist's search for oil, found hidden in the depths of the earth. just as a student wanders through the halls of Miller trying to find the answers in the panorama of activities of high school, so the doodlebug wanders over the fields try ing to find a rich deposit of oil We have called our intro- ductory panorama section Doodlebuggm and we hope that it will discover for you the rich possibilities of our school A tool pusher to the man in the oil field is one who oversees the drilling crews keeps supplies and equipment on the job and sees that all work is done properly We feel that it is an appropriate title for the administration and faculty Weevils are the least important and newest men on the rig So we have called our lowly freshmen Weevils Sophomores rate the name of Roughnecks as they are a little more experienced juniors have become semiskilled and are trying for advancement so we have called them Roustabouts The seniors have charge of the situation and know how the job is done so they rate the title of Drillers In the terminology of the oilman, a blowout is the result of a violent eruption of gas and oil. When the mem- bers of our rig get busy and activities begin to hum, we know that we are sure to have a blowout. These blowouts have caused much excitement and happiness around our school. When the gushers have been brought under control, the oil is stored in tanks for future use. We feel that the organizations of our school are the storage tanfks for the wealth of knowledge that we have gained through our drilling Production Gangs is the term chosen for the sports section Our teams have produced thrills and awards for us in every field Sports do not only produce athletes but they also produce good sportsmanship Our favorites are pictured in the offices refineries equipment and homes of local oil men These backgrounds reflect the wealth and power of the oil industry We hope that all of the students who are graduated from Roy Miller struck oil during their high school days We hope that they will store and refine that oil in college and in the business world so that they may find the fulfill ment of their dreams of success and happiness Lou Ann Kennemer X lf, '1 'f I I 685. p J x M, 119 044, i I 29' X Mx X U I O ' ' 1 tt ' H ' 1 , . .
