..,.life my life is a cycle, happy and sad life is a dream, fantasy and colors life is reality, good and bad my life, your life, everyone's life what do they mean? what are their goals? life is fate, said the wise man with a sigh life is lonely, said the man who couldn't smile life is darkness, life is joyous, life is depressing but for me . . . life is adventure i have to try to climb the highest mountain, swim the longest sea, y save nature from man's destruction. impossible? n not for me. i will try harder than anyone tried before. i will give all i have to give. my goals will contain all of me. then i will begsatisfied. a dream? reality? but i'll be happy. i dream of being on a mountain, towering above the shores or wading through a stream nature's own fountain, rippling across the lands. that makes me happy. it's so simple yet so hard to find i didn't even notice p reality as it creeps, i bringing its mood, so dark, desolate and deep. it's sadness and pain surrounding me, choking until death brings me peace. you have to take the happy and the sad: the fantasy and the colorsg the good and the bad with each step you take. life is what i want to make it. it's my life. let me live my life the way i want to live, let me laugh when i want to laugh: let me cry when i want to cry. let me go! don't hold me back! good-bye .t . s. love always, carrie.

yesterday a child came out to wonder. we caught a dragon fly inside a jar. fearful when the sky was full of thunder and tearful of the falling of a star. and the seasons. . . they go round and round and the painted ponies go up and down. we're captive on a carousel of time. we can't return we can only look behind from where we came and go round and round and round in the circle game. then the child grew ten times round the seasons skated over 10 clear frozen streams. words like when you're older must appease him and promises of one day make up his dreams. and the seasons . . . sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now. cartwheels turn to carwheels through the town. and they tell him, take your time it won't be long now till you drag your feet just to slow the circles down. and the seasons . . . years have passed and now the boy is 20. though his dreams have lost a lot of grandeur coming true. they'll be new dreams, maybe better dreams, there'll be plenty of new dreams before the last revolving year is through. and the seasons . . . joni mitchell underclass people 38
