DR. FRANCIS X. SULLIVAN Former Head of English Dept. Delighted as we are at the advancement of Dr. Francis X. Sullivan, former head of our English department, to a post of great responsibility at school headquarters, associate director of adult education, we shall miss the geniality and kindness which beamed from his lcindly, understanding eyes as he moved swiftly and surely, though unobtrusively, around the building in his all too short stay with us. Dr. Sullivan came to us in 1948 from the High School of Com- merce where he had distinguished himself as a faculty member of the newly instituted Veterans' School to take the place of Mr. Joseph Malone, who was promoted to be headmaster of the High School of Commerce. Dr. Sullivan, holder of two degrees from Boston College, a Master of Education degree from Boston Teachers' College and a Litt. D. degree from Calvin Coolidge College where he is a member of the faculty, was a splendid teacher and administrator and a friend, a true friend of all good Memoruzlites. His ability in so many different fields of endeavor, as teacher, as writer, professor and editor will be sorely missed by all who knew him here. His genuine humanity, his great delight in his work and his home mark him as a man who will bring many more honors to our school. While we rejoice at his merited advancement we feel sure we will miss him here at our school. A fine man and a good American seems a bit trite, but that is the only way to describe him. Good luck and long life, Dr. Sullivan. mf. jfalllfij X .S3MKAU6lI'l, 0l'l'l'l2l' Aga!! 0 gIlgA5L EIGL L viii -J' .Jul Mr. Julian Goulston Head of Commercial Dept.
