NASH To the Class of 1955: Greetings! This year book is a beautiful treasury of the interesting, exciting events that have filled the crowded days of your high school career. As you turn the pages in future years, you will recall vividly the joys land sometimes tribulations!j of your subject classes, the record-breaking suc- cess ofthe Senior Scholarship Play, the achievements of the Student Council, the Home and School Bazaar, Student Exchange, Careers Week, Induction Day, the Class Night ceremonies, the Senior Prom, and all the other activi- tieslin which you found pleasure as well as education of mind and heart and sou . Your teachers will remember pleasantly your warm-hearted friendli- ness, your quiet determination in reaching worthwhile goals, your cheerful cooperation, and your loyalty. All you have done for Mother Memorial has been appreciated and will be cherished after you have left the school. Here in our democracy at Memorial you have learned to live harmoni- ously with others. You have experienced the real meaning of brotherhood,- a feeling given significance and new beauty through the daily remembrance that you are Classmates Today-Neighbors Tomorrow. As children of God, made in His image and likeness, and as sisters in the great human fam- ily, each of you has now her own vitally important contribution to make toward building a better America,-and so, a better world. Keep constantly alive your faith in yourselves and your neighbors, your faith in America, and your faith in God. On behalf of the faculty and personally, I wish you success in the years ahead. May the love and grace of God light the way, and give to each of you the peace of soul that means true happiness! Sincerely yours, WINIFRED H. NASH, Headmaster. ADVERTISING STAFF DR. FRANCIS X. SULLIVAN Former Head of English Dept. Delighted as we are at the advancement of Dr. Francis X. Sullivan, former head of our English department, to a post of great responsibility at school headquarters, associate director of adult education, we shall miss the geniality and kindness which beamed from his lcindly, understanding eyes as he moved swiftly and surely, though unobtrusively, around the building in his all too short stay with us. Dr. Sullivan came to us in 1948 from the High School of Com- merce where he had distinguished himself as a faculty member of the newly instituted Veterans' School to take the place of Mr. Joseph Malone, who was promoted to be headmaster of the High School of Commerce. Dr. Sullivan, holder of two degrees from Boston College, a Master of Education degree from Boston Teachers' College and a Litt. D. degree from Calvin Coolidge College where he is a member of the faculty, was a splendid teacher and administrator and a friend, a true friend of all good Memoruzlites. His ability in so many different fields of endeavor, as teacher, as writer, professor and editor will be sorely missed by all who knew him here. His genuine humanity, his great delight in his work and his home mark him as a man who will bring many more honors to our school. While we rejoice at his merited advancement we feel sure we will miss him here at our school. A fine man and a good American seems a bit trite, but that is the only way to describe him. Good luck and long life, Dr. Sullivan. mf. jfalllfij X .S3MKAU6lI'l, 0l'l'l'l2l' Aga!! 0 gIlgA5L EIGL L viii -J' .Jul Mr. Julian Goulston Head of Commercial Dept.
